The weight drain explanation would make a lot more sense if he'd been KTFO by Tarver in the first fight. That's when he was complaining about the struggles making weight

The second fight where he got KTFO took place over a year after Jones had fought Ruiz, 6 months after he'd fought Tarver at 175 the first time. He said he made weight without a struggle that time and for that reason both Jones and his fans were going on and on about how he was going to teach Tarver a lesson, now that Roy didn't have to kill himself to make 175 he was going to kick Tarver's ass. That's why before the fight Tarver asked him if he had any excuses tonight. Then he got KTFO and suddenly the weight drain explanation came back into play.

He was never a risk taker in the ring against quality opposition but after he got starched by Tarver he was totally gun shy and lost all his confidence. If making 175 was such a killer then why has he continued to fight there? Why is he now fighting at 170 and has run his mouth about fighting Calzaghe at 168?

I think the fact that he had to lose all that weigh at his age is what really messed up his body. He was 200 lbs of all muscle. It wasn't like he was sweating down from excess fat. It was pure muscle and i think that permanently messed with his reflexes and timing.

He should've stayed at HW IMO.

Dude, Ruiz holds wins over Holyfield, Golota, Rahman, Johnson and fought hard againts Valuev and Chagaev. Not a bad man for Roy to take on being as how he used to be a middle weight and gave up alot of size against Ruiz... Roy dominated him. I know it hurts you to think about it, you proably cried when Roy won. Cut the man a little credit dude, the only joke is you my friend.

Who cares, thats a fully Hydrated 200lbs, if you can't cut at least 15lbs of water at 200 lbs, you aren't a profesional. ****ing lightweights can, and do, cut that.

****ing yes, everybody can, ****ing highschool wrestlers do it, **** I've seen a kid go from 150 to 132 in a day for a college match while still going to all his classes that day.

Do you even understand how weighins work? You understand that at any weight below heavy 90% fighters are coming in to the fight at at least, at least 10 pounds over what they weighed in and thats for the lower weight classes. Do you think Tommy Hearns was weighing 147 when he was in the ring? Do you think Cotto was anywhere close to 140 when he was in the ring at jr welter?

Have you ever had to make weight for anything? If you had you would understand

Im sorry but not everyone in the world can easily cut 15 lbs like that, and even if most can, 50% of them arn't going to be 100% the next day.

Ruiz was in the best shape of his career for this fight.
