This paragraph is very interesting and scrolling through the threads since the fight the points you make seem to be ignored. Floyds whole demeanor for this fight is that of a man who has serious mental issues and could quite possibly be taking drugs. Something is not right with Mayweather and he could be getting a bad reaction from the drugs.
He quit as soon as he threw that blatant head-butt. He was frustrated and done because of it. No patience. They called him the young lion. But he was TOO young at 24 yrs of age. Better if he had been a 26-27 yr old young lion.
This. By far the smartest comment I've heard on the fight so far. Andre Ward said that he's [that is, Andre Ward is] like Mayweather -- everyone thinks they can beat you, but when they get in the ring it turns out to be no fun. Ortiz expected to be able to win, and it turned out that fighting Mayweather is no fun at all. So he quit. And don't say that he's not a quitter because he fought hard against Berto, because it's easy to give your all when giving your all will lead to victory. It's difficult to do so when it's almost certain it will still lead to defeat.
Ortiz is the hispanic Judah. . .breaks down when he faces adversity. The Berto fight was simply a fluke, and an inspired, one-time performance from Victor. It's clear now that the Berto heroics was definetely an exception and is not what you should expect from Victor in future.
Good win for Floyd. I totally agree that Ortiz quit. Ortiz knew that the end was near; he was in bad shape and was looking to be knocked out in around the 5th - 7th rounds (IMHO). He quit the same way against Maidana. This fight reminded me of Mayweather vs Judah, when Floyd started really taking over the fight and Zab knew that he was about to get knocked out, afterwards he threw the low blow and then the fiasco started...this gave Judah enough time to recover himself to be able to go the distance. I think Ortiz could have gotten up but decided not to because 1) he knew he could not win and was really feeling the affects of those right hands 2) to get knocked out like that would let him off the hook of being legitimately knocked out or badly beaten, which was inevitable; since he wanted to quit anyways, the 2-punch combo was his way out.
that boy wasnt close to getting up. Noodle rattled. it wouldve taken anyone more than 10 seconds to get up.
Here is the article. Robert Garcia claims Ortiz is a quitter. http://fighthype.com/pages/content10772.html
Yup. I think that's a very strong probability. see: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10750570#post10750570
I think Ortiz desrerved what he got to be honest, ****ing could of done some damage on money with that head butt......... As far as im concerned if i was Floyd and someone stuck the nut on me i would ****ing be well pissed.... What happened with Larry well thats a different story... :nono Ortez never quit just got taken out by a punch he never see coming Mayweather has vewry underated power.
totally agree he wanted out of there. that was the worst headbutt ive ever seen. i mean in the sense it looked so obvious. If Ortiz had got up and fought on what would people be saying about this now?
