When I was a kid I used to breathe and exhale while my stomach went out and expanded and I contracted when I inhaled. Then when I was 18 some doctor told me that I was breathing wrong and that my stamina would be twice as good if my breathing patterns were backwards. You know, for intaking and storing oxygen. I've seen this mentioned elsewhere. However I read that Yoga teaches better stamina by practicing exhaling while you expand. What is the best way to breathe and how much does it matter?
Your stomach or chest. Maybe it doesn't make sense to you because you never breathed that way or had such a habit.
It doesn't make sense because it's not possible. Your chest expands as you lungs fill with air. It's not possible to expand your chest/stomach as you exhale. Maybe you're confused or explaining wrong. :huh
Oh, so you're saying my breathing was totally screwed up when I was a teenager then. Ok let me put it this way. My stomach used to go out when I exhaled. I reversed that and now my stomach expands when I inhale.
You're still not making sense. You mean you tensed your abs as you exhaled? Your stomach cannot expand as you exhale, same as your chest.
This subject is extremely complicated. I tend to breathe in the following pattern: 1. Inhale 2. Exhale 3. Inhale 4. Exhale 5. Inhale 6. Exhale 7. Inhale 8. Exhale 9. This is EXACTLY where I get stuck.... it's like, I think I should Inhale again, but then i'm like.....this could be a trick...what if they're EXPECTING me to Inhale....and then I wonder if Exhaling again will be the right thing to do. Cuz they're not EXPECTING me to exhale. Does anyone have any suggestions?.....Ant-Man? You always have the perfect response to difficult questions like this....
Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
While on the subject, I've never been a fan of the "breath through your nose" thing. When I inhale Ill inhale in my nose and my mouth.
With standard push-ups, yes. With hindu-pushups(and dive bombers also, I believe), it's the opposite.
