Hi everyone. This is my first post here, new user but longtime reader of the forum. Anyway, as we await the announcements for the new big fights around welter I find myself wondering and trying to predict who will be matched against who. My thoughts are leaning towards the following... Matthysse - Maidana....This may seem unlikely considering Matthysse is coming off a loss, and Maidana is a new champ - but before their previous fights most people would have favoured Matthysse in this, so it may happen. It would obviously sell, and both men would fancy it and have a lot to gain Malignaggi - Garcia....don't know why, I just see this one being made as another battle of brooklyn type thing for Garcias 147 debut, and may be seen as an 'easy' fight for Garcia after having fought a heavy hitter. Broner - Judah....again, both men would fancy it - another big fight for Judah, and with Broner seeming vulnerable. Broner would maybe want it as Judah is considered a little past his best, but still has a good name and would be a decent comeback for Broner at 147 I also have a dreaded feeling that we may see Malignaggi and Mayweather go at it - Malignaggi just picked up a good win, and he has name and face recognition. I personally think this would be a little boring, but you never know, it could happen. Anyway, any thoughts on these predictions? Any predictionss of your own? Any predictions on the results of these theoretical matchups?! Thanks for reading
Malignaggi could well be a mayweather opponent. he has a few recent high profile wins. not to mention his commentating has earned him some international celebrity. He had a controversial loss to broner who is still a player and beat zab convincingly who i think is the person who won the most decisive rounds against mayweather to date. the spin could be the perfect recipe for malignaggi to wind up being a place holder for mayweather should a pac/or insert other A+ fighter not be immediately available.
