What a great fight last night!! This is exactly the kind of fight that makes it exciting to be a boxing fan. And if it wasn't for Versus, we wouldn't have seen it, at least not in the States. I know Versus hasn't had much luck lately with Winky Wright and Tony Thompson both pulling out of their fights, but they hit the jackpot Thursday night. Thank you again!!!
Two really good fights. I don't think anyone expected Cunningham v Adamek to be an action affair. I was expecting more of a tactical effort from Cunningham, but Adamek brought it out in him. Thing I enjoyed most was that both matches had ebb and flow. Agbeko v Gonzalez went - EVEN ~> Agbeko ~> Gonzalez ~> EVEN - With some real tossup rounds making the difference Adamek v Cunningham switched back and forth more often, just when you thought the fight was going all for one guy the other came back. Agree with you guys. Also, Saturday night is the Toney - Oquendo fight on VERSUS. I love watching my man James Toney.
Great thread. I really like what Versus is doing and I think having an occasional championship-level card televised from them is a great business plan as opposed to having the obligation of finding fighters to fill fights for cheap on a regular basis. I hope they keep getting the ratings to keep them going.
They are showing the Toney fight this weekend as well I think! this is what we need more televised fights.
If Vs keeps this up they can become a contender with airing fights. That fight was incredible. We need more good match making. If only they would have aired Froch v Pascal.
I enjoyed the card and was glad I called my dad to tell him about it. Two good action fights with belts on the line. Not bad for a Thursday night.
If everybody watches the televised fights not on HBO or PPV than they will put more on in the future. Even if you're not a Toney fan you should still watch this Sat. As they get a bigger and bigger audience they will be able to pay more money to better, and better fighters. This I think is what boxing needs is more fights on basic cable. Builds a bigger fanbase.
