solis looked good, but vitali connected with a beauty and turned solis legs jelly. vitali's counter => knockdown solis's jelly legs + falling down => Injury => KO
Solis was an amateurish idiot to think he could leave himself wide open and defenseless in front of Vitali like that. His 40 extra pounds certainly didn't help his ability to slip punches.
i think he didn't see the punch coming. and how often happes that someones connects perfectly on the temple? perhaps solis overestimated his abilities?
it was a decent shot but i think ultimately Solis can only blame himself for his poor conditioning. I think the excess weight he was carrying coming down on the right leg caused the injury and ultimately the stoppage. He may well have taken the shot if he weighed 270lbs instead of coming in lighter, just one of those things. Solis needs to go away from the sport and get all that excess weight off before building some core strength up in his legs, as many people know his ideal weight is around 225lbs - 230lbs. He showed enough in that 1st round for me to think he would have given Vitali at least a decent arguement if he had been well conditioned.
Yes he didn't see the punch coming but what did he expect if he places himself flat-footed and wide open in front of a 6"7 & 250 lbs guy like Vitali? Solis certainly didn't expect Vitali to stand there and not throw a punch given the opportunity. Solis was an idiot to charge after Vitali in this plump, defenseless and amateurish manner. If anyone looked like a robot then it was Solis when he took that step forward.
