Props to Andre Dirrell!

Dirrell showed a lot against Abraham. Very impressive! It's a shame that the forum is dominated with threads debating whether or not he faked being knocked out. The real story is that Dirrell manned up, stood in front of Abraham, and dished out a man-sized ass whoopin'. Dirrell seems to be showing much improvement. It is time for the world to recognize and give due credit to Andre Dirrell.

I saw this performance coming a mile away...what I didn't expect was AA to actually be KD. That was awesome. Big props to Dirrell.

 

even as an abraham fan, props to dirrell, he fought a perfect fight. but from round 10 dirrell looked in danger. abraham looked to short, couldn't reach dirrell, especially cause of dirrells quickness. and the judge was bad, that was a clear knockdown from abraham in the ninth or tenth round, and dirrell was punching low a lot of times, and why is he allway falling down? if dirrell was acting or not acting dooesn't matter, that was stupid of abraham.

Great Post. If he had have engaged a bit more like that against froch he would have destroyed him but who knows with big fight nerves and his first world title shot he must have frozen.

Despite his negative tactics against Froch (Which no matter how you scored the fight, cost Andre victory) you could see that Dirrell was a truly gifted boxer and a performance like last night was always "In him"!!

I became a fan of Dirrell's (Due to his obvious boxing talent) when he fought Froch (Despite being British and wanting Froch to win) and I am delighted that he fought the way I believed he could!!

 

It is possible that he froze when he fought Froch. Dirrell was also making his first title challenge in a foreign country (The Champ's home town) and it is obvious that his camp ballsed up, with the fight strategy and between rounds advice!!

Personally, I believe that it was a combination of all three, which is why we should (From now on) see the best of Andre Dirrell!

 

He showed greats skills and made AA look very limited. I was rooting for Abraham and thought the fight would be much more competitive. Maybe Dirrell is a very bad tyle matchup for him. It simply wasn't his night. No controversity about the DQ. Team Sauerland should shut their mouth

As I posted pre-fight, it was obvious to me what Dirrell needed to do to win, but I very much doubted that he could put it into practice. From his point of view I worried that he just thought he got robbed against Froch and if he repeated that performance on home turf he would win, rather than analysing the deficiencies in his own performance that had cost him the win. But Dirrell had done all that and he did put together a performance that delievered his potential, so massive props to him. He came to fight, much less falling into clinches, instead lots of lateral movement and disciplined combinations, not getting carried away with his hand speed and trying to throw a 40 punch combo flurry.

I expected Dirrell to win some early rounds, but I didn't expect him to be so successful in stopping Abraham getting a foothold in the fight or to knock Abraham down, take some heavy shots so well or be so successful trading with Abraham.

Such a shame the way the fight ended, and disappointed with Abraham's actions there. Don't know how anybody who watched the replay or the aftermath could suggest Dirrell faked it. The last couple of rounds were set up for a barnstormer, Abraham was starting to land some offense, though still not as much as would have been expected, would have been fascinating to see him trying to knock Dirrell out. And Dirrell deserved the chance to finish the job he'd started so impressively and have his arm raised triumphantly if he could do so, rather than being told he had won after being scraped up off the floor.

So, big props to Dirrell, and will be shouting him on against Ward because it will be to the detriment of the tournament now if he's not in the last four because he's a serious contender to win. Unfortunately the format is not really in his favour - Froch has the same points and a tie break against Dirrell, and Kessler and Green fight each other in the third round, so Dirrell may well need a result against Ward to get through.

It's a shame that Dirrell's excellent performance is almost being lost amongst the controversy. I think the Froch defeat might be a blessing in disguise. Whatever you think of the scoring, Dirrell allowed the fight to be much closer than it should have been. He should use his speed and reflexes to get into punching positions instead of being overly defensive.

The beauty of this tournament is that it gave Dirrell a chance to immediately put things right. Usually a defeat means you drop right down the ladder, the Super 6 put him straight into another big fight.

Dirrell was terrific last night. He fough the correct fight and was handily beating a very good fighter in Abraham. Great stuff.

 

AA got caught square on. The problem with AA which was very evident before this fight is he doesnt throw enough leather. Any good box puncher will cause him alot of problems with good movement. Purely because AA is a very static target who is content to wait for his shot and close up. He fights in spurts with a semi defensive peak a boo. Andre Ward would do an even better job than Dirrell that im sure of. The sensible choice was obviously AA but had i been a betting man i would have put a tidy some on Dirrel to win a UD. Its just a shame about the ending.

Will he be out if he doesn't get a result against Ward?

Like if Green lost both his fights, and Kessler only had 2 points from beating Green in the last fight. Who would go through out of that?
