Props to Briggs, but I felt a little sorry for him

Briggs deserves a lot of credit for not quitting. He is a real man, and he has his own legacy in this sport.

That being said, that fight should have been stopped. He had nothing in those last few rounds. There was no reason to let the man take that beating.

He needs some more beating so he would finally disappear.

Hate all these old no hopers like Briggs, Rahman, Mercer, etc still hanging around and challenging the Klitschkos, and making all the pre fight hype like they have real chances.

Briggs at 38, did more than the young guys like Johnson and Peter. Shannon's only real hope was an early knockout, which didn't happen. The fight was interesting, and showed Briggs is alot tougher than some thought.

Yep, shows how good the 90's actually was compared this decade for the heavies....When a shot Briggs is a major accomplishment for a K Bro...:-(

The 90's heavyweights were exciting to watch, for various reasons. You had Tyson, Ruddock, Morrsion, Mercer, Briggs, Bruno, Golota, Lewis, Foreman, Bowe, Tua, Ibeabuchi, Holyfield etc... Try and name 5 over the last 10 years that brought excitement to the division. I know I can't.

That's the "knock" on the K Bros....Where is the defining win(s)? Nice resume of beating solid guys, but no stand outs...

The fight could have reasonably been stopped anywhere from round 9 on.

I can't understand that many unanswered shots being landed, and the ref not stopping it. Briggs waddling all over the ring, head swollen and him unable to even land on his stool at one point.

Why that was not stopped was hard to understand.

    Pride, for ****s Sake.

Shannon Briggs is a athlete and proud man, with a ego.

To make to the final bell, is a victory in itself sometimes.

This is the type of topic a woman would make.

Johnson also didn't stand in the pocket and take the huge blows Briggs did either. Johnson was on the run most of the night, not looking to engage. Briggs did the opposite, and proved he had heart and chin.

He didn't take near the punches Briggs did, he covered up and never tried to win.

Johnson never took the amount of punishment Briggs did. I feel Briggs tried to win early on, but found himself frustrated when he couldn't find a way past the jab and right hand that followed it.
