I thought it was a great fight although I was rooting for Cotto to pull the upset Mayweather came out on top. I did feel like it was a little closer then the judges scores given but of course I was in a room with mostly Cotto supporters and I was a bit drunk. I will try to score it sober next weekend. Couple things.... I was listening to the On the Ropes post fight and some other commentary and I really have a hard time believing Mayweather did all this "for the fans". I thought Cotto brought the fight to him with a great fight plan and took him out of his comfort zone. I've never seen that look on Mayweather's face before. Although Cotto lost he put forward a great effort and should also be praised for it. Great night of boxing and ultimately a great night for fans of boxing. I was in a packed house of avid fans and not so avid and the night delivered with some great action!
I agree. If I had one complaint it's that even though Mayweather clearly won, the scores did not reflect Cottos efforts in the ring. Seems like he was being scored as the challenger and not the champion. Well, if you fight Mayweather in Vegas, you are indeed the challenger, regardless of who has the belt. A great night for boxing either way.
