Props to Dawson

Dawson beat Hopkins clearer than anyone since '93 imho. He wasn't fazed by dirty tactics and kept focus. Great gameplan and grheat win. Wouldn't say age caught up to Hopkins he still looked incredible but Dawson was a step ahead. Wish he fought like this against Pascal as he would still be undefeated. Was rooting for Hopkins but hey, Dawson is the future and listened to Scully's great advice. Not much action but Dawson deserves it. Would be surprised to see a gift in Hopkins favor but doubt it, Dawson left no question he won. No way Hops won it he shouldn't complain at all.

Good job Dawson a performance like this against Pascal avenges his defeat.

 

Word, I picked Hopkins to win but Dawson earned this victory. Props.

 

Tasteless by Hopkins to walk out. Hopefully he apologizes. He had a case to win Taylor & Calzaghe fights but no way he beat Dawson. Still amazing to perform the way he did but it wasn't enough to be even competitive against Dawson.

 

I think it was a combination of age and a difficult style. But credit to Chad, he earned it.

 

Definitely. I pick a prime Hopkins to beat him, but it would have always been difficult, and he was still competitive, Dawson had to bring his A game to win.

 

Dawson fought excellent. Made the most of the tools he has.

 

He seems to be growing into the fighter many though he might, if a little later than expected.

I thought he was mature both in and out of the ring tonight.

 

Don't forget that he fought nearly all the fight with a huge cut as well due to an accidental clash of heads.

And Dawson had to tough it out, he had two cuts in his eyes.

 

Props indeed.I've not been slow to castigate Chad,but fair play,he got the job done.And I felt a bit sorry for him when he was saying "come on man!" He wanted to fight and did what he had to do.
And how about ole' Rafael with that cut?

 

The fight went exactly as i predicted it would,Hopkins was well beaten and cried like a ***** afterwards.I'm amazed so many thought Hopkins could beat Chad.

 

I wouldn't say clearer but since Max put it that way according to the official scorecards which basically are similar to the unofficial HBO card, then you gat to think. And what I make of it is that Hopkins couldn't have done better than this so Dawson deserves props for keeping his cool specially after the accidental headbutt and tryin to put together his punches which for most were clean and effective, not that that lead right hand coming from Nard wasn't but hey...

 

Still amazed that Hopkins was able to make Dawson miss so many times at his age with textbook defense. Of course not enough to win and he did foul a lot but I have respect for Chad especially after the post-fight interview. Handled himself well the whole night. Respect to Hopkins too for his career and discipline.
