I applaud Floyd for taking on the toughest available fight at WW.

Yes, he certainly does that. Funny how Gayweather and duck always come up in the same topic. :rofl

He has been known as the P4P best in recent years, I really don't see why he should get a pat on the back for fighting a top guy in his own division.

    about time i say.
im not going to put down floyd any more- it gets tiring - getting too involved in who says what- especially with pbf. ive learnt with boxing- its best to just tune in when the fights happen- and tune out for the rest. it becomes a game of hollywood gossip. you d think boxing was followed by a bunch of perez hiltons from all the crap that goes on- back and forth sniping

i just wanna see the best fights possible- and finally we get one.

this is going to be a great great fight.

Hear hear. Great post. Hit the nail on the head. Too much bull**** speculation and idiot fanboys dissing each other. I am just glad to see two world class boxers getting it on :thumbsup

Good for him. This fight and a fight with winner of Clottey/Pac should make up for the years he let go by not fighting the toughest competition. I like him but it pissed me off that he cherrypicked and didn't prove himself against the best out there.

I'd give it to him. I don't think he really saw this coming but it took a lot of courage from him to sign that contract. He knows damn well this might be his first loss.

I see this fight as no more than a cat and mouse the whole 12 rds or if Shane catches him flush early, no more than 8.

Not everyone agrees. IMO Mosley will lose by a wide margin anyway and there will still be People saying Mosley was old. Never ends:rasta

I think we both know the absolute toughest at welterweight would be Koki Kameda.

    Absolutely.

As a boxing fan, this is a great fight. For Floyd Mayweather and his so-called legacy, this can only help.

But I can't help but put things in the proper perspective. It's all well and good that we will be seeing the best welterweight and the consensus number two pound-for-pound best go at it, and for that kudos to both fighters for making it happen.

But why is there so much ruckus for Floyd finally signing on to the fight, and Shane Mosley's perennial willingness to take on the best swept to the side as if it does not even matter?

Floyd signing on to fight Mosley has contradicted his ways for the last years of taking on unworthy opposition. This is a good start, and let us wait until they get in the ring first before any over-the-top threads.

If Floyd wins, he can prove his big talk by cleaning out the other top welters as Ellerbe claimed, by actually doing it. If he loses, he still gets big props from me just for taking on a Shane Mosley.
