Only redneck Americans thought Hopkins won. Then again you insist you won in Vietnam. :hi:

Nah, only people that dont equate a slap as the same as a punch with leverage. People who watched that fight LAUGHED at him. He was laughed at.. Thats why he did not gain an ounce of respect after that fight and majority...majority...majority believe Bhop won.

    that's childish isn't it?

as i said before, check the live commentary for the BBC for the hopkins - calzaghe fight and you'll find the BBC commentator had hopkins winning it.

there's a case for either way when you watch the fight, but you're making yourself look like a coward posting this over the net.

    and no...i'm not american.

Hopkins ranks much higher than Calzaghe.

He`s slapped his was to 45-0. He confused Hopkins with his tactical nous and we laughed at him losing to a white boy. :D

You know there may be some truth to your statement, I watched Calzaghe's fight against Hopkins with a friend who hadn't seen Joe fight previously and even though he felt the Calzaghe won the fight he still wasn't impressed with him.

Tarver = Average fighter, De La Hoya = straw weight next to Hopkins... What about Eubank? sure he was at the end of his career, but Joe still says Eubank was his toughest fighter ever, and barring an amazing lucky punch of the Oliver McCall variety, Joe will add Jones to his resume, plus Joe has beaten a better fighter than anyone Hopkins has beaten on his resume.

I still stand by my out of shape comment American or not ( though we have closet Americans here) Joe landed nearly twice as much as Hopkins, how can someone who lands nearly 140 less punches win over 12rounds with a smaller ratio?

A British person saying '' them legends'' and not ''those legends''?
    Case and point.

Rjj Ducked him, and Toney ate himself out of the division so as not to face Joe or even Benn.

I am from the USA and I scored it for Calzaghe. Calzaghe had the style to outpoint hopkins, enough said.

However, calzaghe barely won that fight, it was competitive.

This fight alone doesnt make calzaghe an ATG. All time greats do it versus a number of fighters at the highest ranks and they win some and lose some.

The fact that Calzaghe hasnt challenged himself or anyone else until Lacy means that he will never get the respect he may deserve. Hell, Joe wasnt even undisputed until the kessler fight? Was he even then undisputed. Clearly he was the best at 168 but he wasnt undisputed like Hopkins at middle.

Tarver was the man at 175, hopkins wasn't even given a chance of beating him, delahoya was a big welterweight, and the fight took place at junior middleweight, hopkins had to get down to 156. Eubank was a washed up fighter who was there for the taking. joe saying that eubank was the toughest fight of his carreer just shows how poor of a resume he has.

and please name the fighter that is better than anyone that hopkins has beaten, don't try to compare kessler or lacy to felix trinidad.

calzaghe landed slaps which had no affect on hopkins, hopkins was never caught flush, all of calzaghe's slaps where non scoring as they landed on his shoulders and arms.

The most fair comment yet, however, Joe did try and make big fights, jones as he said didn't want to know, and was busy chasing a title in every division, rather than facing some top peopel in his main weight, and Hopkins said yes, then backed out and asked for double the money, Johnson he was due to fight and got terrible injuries... and by that point, all the big fights are made by Americans, so he had to endure a lot of patience to land Lacy, since Lacey he's had no problems getting fights, if he were ducking people, he would never have faced Hopkins, or even Kessler for that matter, the one fighter I was worried about for Joe.

I don't think anyone can dispute Hopkins class, but its baffling that people dispute Joe's, if he were American, the fan base on here would be insane, he would be viewed like Ricky Hatton is to Mancurians.

i was rooting for hopkins... but i felt joe c won a CLOSE fight... the people i watched it with believed joe c won and it wasnt that close.

that being said... just because joe c beat a 40 year old hopkins whos still good enough to be world class... doesnt mean hes going to rank higher on the ATG list... lol... so let me ask you is antonio tarver going to rate higher then roy jones jr just because he beat him?

id be interested in seeing where the smarter posters on here rank the two... and they just might be close, idk, but joe c doenst move ahead of hopkins just because he beat him in a close fight lol.
