Im disappointed and intrigued by the forthcoming Juan Manuel Marquez-Floyd Mayweather Jr fight

On the first point, JMM is a great fighter, and to be fighting Floyd, a naturally bigger opponent who at this stage in his career his a WW, it just demonstrates how much of a champion Marquez is. Considering he was a featherweight for the majority of his career, and now after winning the 135 title is moving up another division, one that he is undersized in, to face the former undefeated P4P #1, the man can only be praised.

On the other hand, I am once again let down by Floyd. While JMM is certainly no pushover and will come to fight, Floyd must know he has most every physical advantage. JMM is a natural 130 pound fighter, 135 being his ideal weight class at the moment, and Floyd has been considered a WW for the last 4 years.

Floyd is going to be the odds on favorite by practically everyone, and while one could argue he has everything TO lose if he does lose the fight, on the other hand I dont see the point in fighting someone that is not even within your weight class and that wont really add to your legacy in the first place.

It actually is somewhat reminiscent of ODLH in his last years, taking the fight with PBF and then Pacquiao, and neither fight having any real relevance at all.

If Floyd wins, what does it really say? He beat a smaller fighter, a great one no doubt, but a smaller man in a division he has no intention of even fighting in.

This is emblematic of why I will never like Floyd nor truly respect him as a boxer.

Who else is there Shane and Williams. Shane is old and Williams is too young and inexperienced for Floyd.

Hold your horses, homeboy. Paul will spark that ***** inside of 10 rounds and he knows it.

But that's beside the point. Floyd ain;t got nothin to be ashamed of fighting this guy. He called him out. Now he gets what he askin for.

He ain't that much lighter than Floyd, especially compared to hom much Margarito and Paul outweigh him.

No, I was pissed at Oscar then. That fight was also irrelevant to the division as well, just like this one is.

Even if it was Manny, it'd still be cherrypicking.

What about when Hopkins fought Kelly, Tito, Oscar and Winky.

He basically invented 170 pd catch weight.

How is Floyd a natural WW when he weighs 4-5lbs off Marquez on fight night?

And According to you Marquez is a natural LW.

Exactly. Floyd could fight and beat every top ww and still won't get his credit.

He's been away from the ring for a year and a half, this is about the only time he can cherry pick and shoudlnt be slammed for it. If he fights someone not in the top 5 P4P thats his size after JMM then thats stupid and he should just go back into retirement.
