You know when i first heard of joe c... i figured him to be another over hyped euro guy like a large majority of them... gave him his props when he beat roy & bhop though.. couldnt be mad at him for that

but the past weekend in my sick slump i decided to watch a couple of his fights or bits & pieces of his fights and I found he was pretty ****ing nice....

he could fight inside, could fight outside, pretty good defense, very very very good thinker in the ring.... I actually enjoyed watching his fights... as i was watching them i felt it was a shame he never really got a great challenge or a great way to measure his greatness for whatever reason his career played out how it did...

    but props to joe c....

props to all the fans who rode with joe c from the start.

i gave him a hard time but dude is pretty tough for what its worth

  2. props to joe for avoiding dangerous fighters anywhere near their prime

i actually wished he gave us like 1 or 2 more fights.... would have been great to see him on us soil a bit more...

maybe if we something crazy happens he will take the winner of the 168 tourny or something... that would be pretty interesting

Nah, it won't happen. Calzaghe will be 40 years old with 3 years out the ring. That is not a good scenario for a guy that is fast and relies on stamina. You can only keep yourself in so much shape, it isn't like being in ring shape. Besides, from what I've seen he's let himself go, he looks fat in the face.

I don't really get the impression he has that drive and hunger anymore for boxing. He seems fairly content, and he's got loads of money, I think he's happy with his life in Wales from what I've read. Then again, he does love money, so if it was a MONSTER offer you never know...

I would have liked him to fight Chad Dawson before he retired, that was a shame it didn't happen, would have been a really good fight.

I gotta give him props too, I thought Jeff Lacy would destroy him after what he did to Robin Reid. However, I am not in favor of those who call him a "great" fighter:nut

Calslap was a damn good fighter. One of the best of his generations. Amazing recovery skills. Adaptability. Power. Ring generalship, and amazing stamina.

But he didnt prove it in the ring. Thats the knock against him.

WWM, have you given Calzaghe "a hard time?" You seem to polish his nob on a very regular basis, cuz.

    when?

when I first came on here i was calling him ass... then after that i would just say " he beat bhop & roy fair and square.... and he might as well retire because people will just take away from him if he beats anyone else"

besides that i would reserve any judgement

When? ALOT. People will be ripping Calzaghe left and right and you always come in and say something encouraging about the guy. Every time. I could set my watch by it. Instead of us finding all these post, let's find some where you actually "give Calzaghe a hard time." I'd like to see one.

I think a younger hop and ROy would of beaten him. But him giving Lacy a boxing lesson was great, especially hearing my friend tell me how great Lacy will be and be an ATG before that fight. He was getting on my nerves and Joe shut him up
