Floyd offered 14 days BEFORE THE MEDIATION. Manny rejected that, that's why they went into mediation. The purpose of the mediation is to come up with a compromise that is deemed reasonable by the mediator. The result was a 24 day offer to Floyd which Floyd rejected. However, Floyd flat out refused the result of the mediation and did not even bother to make a counter offer. In other words, he knew already that he will stick with his 14 days going into mediation. He should have not bothered with mediation if he knew he was not flexible anyway. At this point, Pac team felt it's a complete waste of time and moved on to fight a fighter that Floyd would not even think of fighting.

I wish people would stop talking about this...its completely inexcusable that a clean fighter would pass up on a fight of this magnitude because of random blood test....HONESTLY!!!

PAC was on some bull**** period!! Quit making excuses for him...

24 days versus 14 days....Why? That was a counter just to counter..

I like your answer big man i do :good but the day i let that fraud , cherry picking clown Floyd Mayweather stop me watching boxing is a sad day !!!!!

But overall i agree boxing politics is ridiculous , it was at its worst mid 2000's and we seemed to of overcome the politics with the introduction of the UFC (like it or lump it its a fact) and to be honest the early days of Golden Boy Promotions , however this episode has re established that powers beyond the fighters themselves can hamper what we as boxing fans crave and its sad !!!

On the Pacquiao fight , well you know what if he loses he loses so what he's fighting yet another world class top tier WW , the mans got balls and he wants to put on a show , the super fight falls through and bang he bags Clottey , no hassle , no pondering bang the fight is signed and thats the end of it , and he has made Floyd look pretty ****in stupid as he is still eating the scraps of whats available in the JrWW and the pondlife of the WW divison .

Look man , Pacquiao is moving on from Floyd and his bull **** , Floyd never wanted anything to do with Pac and when the drugs test bandwagon started rolling he was behind it firmly , Mayweather will not fight a real threat at WW , get over it !!!! , your boy will not fight a true test @147 its that simple .

    I agree.

Provided there's no catchweight and no fight-night weight clause, Pac deserves massive respect for taking this fight. I've rewatched a few of Clottey's fights in the last week or so, and the dude can scrap. I agree with the comments about his periods of inactivity: he fights in bursts, which are impressive when one is happening but not very engaging when they're not.

The thing that concerns me from Pacquiao's point of view is that Clottey has a damn good defense. Corrales went straight at him for ten rounds with a lot of inside fighting and he seriously connected maybe three or four times, all of which Clottey just shook off. The rest just bounced off Clottey's arms, hands and the very top of his head. It makes me wonder about the best way for Pac to get at him. The obvious openings are that Clottey overextends himself a bit on uppercuts and right crosses and, leaves, for a small amount of time, a gate open through which Pac can land, but it's easier said than done.

It's not really a consolation for Pac-PBF falling through, but it should be an interesting bout.

I don't see how cotto won the fight as much as he missed and ran, clottey didn't go for the kill, but cotto in my eyes didn't do enough to win, clottey landed at will on cotto and most the judges and fans were giving props to cotto for hitting clottey's gloves. This will be clottey's redemption for the cotto fight.

its pacs decision deal with it. if he has isues with it thats his decision. what still remains is that he is innocent and what he offered was 10 times tougher than the rules that exist today. floyd could have showed the world his greatness but he bailed out through speculation.

Honestly he will have to fight a true test at ww because of pac and this fight as well as pacs previous fight....

and Honestly floyd hasn't had to fight a true ww at ww because he became a big money fighter and for the last two fights leading to his last retirement the two biggest fights out there were with people who happened to not be welter weights..

Now the biggest fight for him is finally a ww and someone who is campaigning against top ww..so for floyd to keep up and stay market wise competitive he must do the same...

And quit aligning the most dangerous fights for floyd with being the largest fights for floyd...That seems to be what most floyd haters do..

And as a boxing fan most floyd fans would like to see him fight dangerous fighters too...but it also makes sense why a fighter of floyds caliber would fight other fighters that warrant a larger pay day...

I think its going to be an easy ass fight for him. But thats not to say its not a dangerous fight. If his team has miscalculated then this guy is not the type of beast that you want to **** up with. He has a rock solid chin and defense. counters well and can lead with either hand. It definitely takes belief in yourself to make a fight like this. That being said I Pac will blow this guy out of the water if everything goes to plan.

I would agree its time for Floyd to step up and face a top contender. Problem being that the names being bandied about are probably more dangerous for Floyd then Clottey is for Manny. Cintron, Mosely, and Berto are all power punchers with speed. Personally if he could deal with any of them I think he'd have to be the heavy favourite against pac.

I have a feeling Floyd will end up fighting a guy like ANte Campbel though. I won't be pissed but thats not as ballsy a fight as Clottey.

well i think its a stupid move, if they wanted to make the mayweather fight bigger than it already is they should have showcased pac with an all action type of fighter, especially if its going to be in dallas stadium, maybe someone like collazo, judah or even cintron.

None of them guys are Top Rank fighters while Clottey is. We all know how Bob Arum loves to match his guys together so he wins either way. Why else do you think he is setting up Pacquiao-Margarito ?

stupid move by arum, i can see clottey beating pac and what ever people think of margo i think he gives pac hell and possibly stops him (if he still has it).
