So you base your opinion primarily off a polarizing issue in which both sides have waged a PR war, each blaming the other, where both sides probably embellished the truth or lied? I've been an avid boxing fan since the late 80s and involved in the industry for some time now. Needless to say, my opinions are formed from more than a microcosm or disgruntled employees. It's funny that people rarely bringing up the lawsuits against GBP by fighters or the fighters who leave GBP, but when a fighter leaves TR or files a suit, it's the smoking gun that Arum is a crook. Anyway, this is a waste of my time. America lost much of its critical thinking skills decades ago, so it's no surprise that people simply tow the line of whomever they like. Rarely do people actually point to hard facts as their reasoning (tip: PR rhetoric reported about why we didn't get Mayweather/Pacquiao isn't hard fact). They usually just use rhetorical stuff like, Arum is a crook, or Arum ruined the May/Pac fight. The fact is, I'm sure both TR and GBP have what people here would call "shady" business practices. Both companies probably have and do deceive the fans. Etc. Etc. I personally like GBP more and if I had to invest in one, it would be GBP, but I would fool myself into thinking their **** doesn't stink. They just have a CEO who plays the PR game better and knows when to keep his mouth closed.
i dunno Beat...i know you like to think of yourself/pride yourself on believing you are some next level thinker....its cool that you are a boxing insider not a word that has come out of floyd or golden boys mouth has convinced me to form the opinion i have.......i dont know how i can make that more clear....im a fan of both fighters....it isnt simply that i just woke up and liked golden boy/floyd so i decided bob arum is a POS.... like i said...i can start at the point where floyd asked bob arum for an oscar fight....and i can go on and on for awhile with logic and "critical" thinking....explaining and stating my case the other side of the case starts with "floyd is scared"..."floyd is a ducker"..."hes afraid to lose" and thats about it ill keep it short as possible floyd is with arum...asks arum for oscar fight...bob says no i cant ill lose money...floyd buys out contract for 700k...floyd gets oscar fight...breaks records....starts to become a main stream star....bob starts cultivating his new pet in manny pac....both are doing their thing eventually reaching a fever pitch for a fight between the two....they go to the table....50/50 is on the table....floyd asks for drug test...manny side says hes afraid of needles and gets weak when blood is taken from him...yet somehow they they start talking about 30-24 day cutoffs...floyd says 14 day cutoff and manny walks...manny magically has a fight in cowboys stadium which is something bob had been talking about for a couple months....floyd is left without a good fight so haymon makes andre berto step aside so floyd can have the shane fight(that fight was already signed at the time) since floyd was left at the table/alter.....they move on.....there are supposed negotiations and bob puts up a phony countdown clock on his website for floyd to sign some deal that never existed....bob cries about manny has cuts that need to heal, he needs to build a stadium, he think floyd will be in jail and doesnt know if he will have license, he says "i dont even know who to call"(none of this stuff ccomes from floyd or schaefer or golden boy)...its quotes ive read from arum himself and stuff you can clearly see if you read between lines or think "critically"......after arum has said he doesnt know who to call...he sits down with USA Today and says "were waiting for someone to call us...weve said were willing to do the fight"...the same day he announces pac/bradley 2......then of course bob has gone off about the MGM and floyd because hes a bitter jealous baby....when floyd paid for the advertising himself(ive yet to see you respond to your whole pepsi/coke analogy being bunk)....and ive left out more things i could throw in there......but you get the idea...things add up after awhile... it has nothing to do with any PR golden boy has put out...or me liking one side more than another...it simply sifting through the bull****...it doesnt have anything to do with GB keeping their mouths shut at the right time or playing a better PR game.... i cant post the link...but over at fighthype theres an old article that basically gives 99 bob arum quotes from 2010-2012 in regards to a floyd fight....and if you read them all you cant help but laugh....so much crap and so many contradictions its ridiculous....its basically arum incriminating himself over and over and showing the jealousy/hatred that he still displayed just even a few weeks ago the evidence against bob arum being the driving force behind this fight not happening overwhelms the other side of the coin which is basically "guy is scared....doesnt wanna lose his 0...hes afraid of pac"...... its pretty hard to call it a PR war when pacs own trainer is on video saying they walked from 50/50 and a 14 day cutoff...when his promoter bumbles and contradicts himself....and when pacs former strengh coach actually points the finger directly at arum himself...... forgive me though for being such a dumb american who cant think
ahhhh bob the builder...what a guy...."ya see we cant do the fight then cause it doesnt make sense.....we need more time to build an outdoor stadium...thats the only way it can happen"-----and ya BeatDaddy...i hate to break it to you but that is an actual quote from arum himself....not a PR smear campaign by floyd or golden boy
I tend to agree ^. Cept I also feel SHOs part of this set up too, and that HBO is the target as much or more than TR. Haymon / schaeffer are in effect the promo-managerial apparatus of the triad with SHO as the exclusive broadcaster. Looks to me like the ultimate aim is a boxing setup akin to the ufc, where a single company with a single broadcast deal effectively runs the sport in the US.
