Mayorga is pretty much past it and, whilst he had a superb chin in his day has been sparked out by Trinidad, DLH and now Mosley. All fighters not at their peaks IMO. Trinidad to be fair was still very good at the time, but his power was not what it was at WW, and he knocked Mayorga down numerous times. I'd say Williams beats him now. Your argument about taking 13 rounds to beat Quintana is stupid. Foreman took 2 rounds to beat Frazier (who had previously beaten Ali) yet Ali took many more to finally stop Frazier (which was in the final round too, well, just before) So what's that, 45 rounds? Yet it took Ali 8 to beat Foreman. See how that sort of argument means **** ALL???
I would like to see Tony taking those overhand rights and thumping left hooks and still coming on... I knew he would but then he would not look the same in doing so. I guess Tony didn't like to see Shane having Mayo stretched or feeding him with clean power punches so... I'm baffled with it too, best thing that could happen now is Floyd coming back to fight Shane (at last).
I want to see Shane retire now. No doubt he has no fear in the ring and has a crazy desire to fight, but that durability that has been there for him his entire career has to fail at some point. I just don't want to see the things that make him great in my mind lead him to getting seriously hurt. I like remembering the times I've seen him get tagged and return fire. I remember how stubbourn he was, and how hard of a fight he put up against Wright, who clearly had his number. Those shots Shane blasted a taunting Wright with still make me wince. Shane has so much game, he's going to find himself, and we are going to end up having to watch this older, slower version of him be brutalized by somebody. I'd rather see him go out healthy and with a grip of money.
