Very good showing from Wlad and a fight he NEEDED. He needed to be challeneged and brought into more of a fight than a dancing match and he passed with flying colors. I give Thompson credit for his early gameplan of being a bit more aggressive and bringing the action to Wlad. He got away from it in the mid to late rounds and let Wlad get off a bit more which spelled doom for the Tiger. Many of Wlad's shots were blocked fairly well but towards the latter rounds he found his mark more and finished his man. Props to Thompson for sticking in there as long as he did and bigger props to Wlad for getting through the adverity of a cut and an aggressive opponent and getting it done.
So I guess you're not a hater afterall. Both men fought well. Thompson showed good bodypunching and a granite chin. Wlad did what he always does. Figure his man out. Left hand not working so good against the huge southpaw. Throw more lead rights and late in the fight some body shots and even a few uppercuts. I liked the fight. Huge men with some serious athletic ability fighting for supremacy. Wlad won again and hopefully got a few more fans.
Exactly...both guys are huge, athletic and have skills. These are big dudes, they can't fight like lightweights or welterweights bombing on each other as they would get KTFO real quick. Any man over 200 pounds can KO another with a clean shot. If you have boxed before you would know this. This no power crap for HWs is BS. HWs can crack and they do. The p4p power stuff is BS. You can't compare that at all.
Wlad looked good tonight in the face of real pressure from thompson who deserves an atta boy for stickin it out as long as he did. Good on ya Tony.
Entertaining and pretty high skill fight for HW's! I was glad to see more action from a Wlad fight and was impressed that Thomson at least made it a fight instead of sitting back and getting picked apart by the Wlad jab etc. Wlad has definitely don a better job over the past year or two regarding his defense. There were a couple, not many, but a couple times Thomson found the mark and Wlad knew what to do to keep himself out of trouble. So refreshing to see a decent HW bout. :good
Lewis was/has been respectful when he does fights for HBO but does anyone think that HE thinks he can give one of these top HWs a run for their money?? I would like to see Wlad and Peter again but....if Lennox wanted to throw down one more time...
I was suprised and impressed with how hard of an opponent as Thompson was for Wlad to be effective against. He even said himself that he couldnt' land his jab early in the fight, and couldnt really land the right so much either..........LOL Thompson earned my respect and his awkward style, long reach and south paw stance was a harder than expected fight for Wlad. But the ending was a very needed ending for Wlad. Thompson is apparently a hard chinned son of a ##$@#@, but Wlad still managed to drop him, and he wasn't on his shaky legs til count ten. Nice ending and very needed.
Vlad's stamina is not bad, never really has been. Only in the Purrity fight early in his career and that was in the 11th round. Vlad was drugged in the first Brewster fight. Brewster was nothing. Titty Atl(ass) puked when Vlad landed the right hand!
Was there ever proof that Wlad was drugged? :huh Surely there were criminal charges and the perpetrators were banned from boxing, right? :think Funny, I don't remember hearing anything to these points though.
For once, some objectivity, by that I don't mean objectivity for once from YOU, but from someone who is admittedly not a fan of Klitschko.
I noticed alot of critics of Wlad after this fight but Thompson is underated and is better then alot of people give him credit for, he was on a 27 fight win streak and hasn't lost in 8 yrs....that's not by accident. He's a big awkward southpaw and not easy to get to.
