I agree, as much it would be a big draw for Boxing, it takes out the opportunities for little guy to make his mark.

it will lift the profile of boxing quicker than it died. in one olympics, boxers we fans know of will become houshold names again. there will be 1 champ again in each division.

there will be no managers to **** up matchups. the americans will fight the cubans.....the best vs the best. all of the best ams that went to pros and improved can come back . in 4 rounds you will see absolute wars between pros that know they have only 4 rounds to state their case.

it will be an exhibition of boxing never seen before. it is what boxing needs.:good

you are either being sarcastic or stupid.

    1. yes, the good of boxing come first. it puts pro boxing way above MMA crap.

    2. if the little man aint good enough, **** happens. there is no sport that gives you are gold medal because your a 'little man'...

How does this put Boxing over MMA when last time I checked it still is a bigger drawcard for PPVs?

And for 2nd question, read O_money's answer.

Besides your acting as if some of these pros are actually going be there no questions ask, what money are they going to be asking for lol? Besides 34 is the cut off for competing in amateur leagues.

    Moron.

    This.

Also (but less importantly), aren't you ineligible for amateur boxing when you hit 35?

Doubt the big names will not fight for free. It's like asking a tenured doctor to intern for a year so he can put another plaque on his wall.

the olympics protects the sport. it will raise its profile and legitimise it over MMA. its not as brutal, will be more defended against medical attack, etc.

to bring theworlds best pros to a 4 round tourney every year is something special. all the best wont come the first few times. but it will come to be something to prove. to be the best, the olympics is where to prove it. its a worldwide sport. so it is included in the olympics. it is made for it.

gridiron, AFL, and other sports can never make it in. the olympic already have martial arts. the chance of an MMA tourney at the olympics is less likely with a showcase such as boxing using pros. it reafirms boxing as the greatest of the combat sports.

i think its 33......unless that is a rule change to come. you must become your national champ at the ams to fight for your country. so holyfield is unlikely to get through for instance.

Lol; this guy is trying so hard to be 100% positive and not look at how this could go wrong.. Thinking the fights will all be Hearns vs Hagler cause they are four rounders..

34, Savon was pushing it when he won gold the 3rd time in 2000 at 33.

They should just the best boxers in the world compete. Regardless of pro or amature status.

If I understand correctly. A pro boxer can join the ABP or is it APB? for a year. Forgoe what ever money he would have earned, and earn what ever the ABP sallary is.

So in theory a boxer who is now a top level pro can join up for the 1013 season. Go back to his pro career in 2014, and be elgible for the 2016 Olympics.

Not sure about the Olympics but you can fight as an amateur after 34, but you have to pass a full medical exam and ct scan.
