Atleast it forces big names to fight eachother so im happy about that, but it olympics are like the pinnicle for amateurs and throwing pros in the mix makes i harder for those boxers get exposure

    Im a bit torn here

yes, im a cup half full person.

    how could it go wrong.....

    1. contractual disputes.

    2. young ams dont want to 'box off' in the trials against seasoned pros.

these two are the main ones.

    1. future contracts should have a am clause written in, saying that if the boxer wants to box am and go to the trials in an olympic year, it is ok.

    2. bad luck. get better. the best represent their country. 'there aint no second prize'.

I could be wrong, but I thought you had to either go into the Masters or Pro if you wanted to contune boxing competivly.

I don't see the big names in this no way they will fight for free. The mid level guys will jump at this but not the elite. Also do wins and loses go on their pro record.

no, losses go on am records. in the years between olympics, they can fight eachother pro if they want. 'olympic redemption' etc. boxing gets its big fighters to fight eachother again..

yeah they will. the olympics is symbolic of the best. it is ancient. it is rare bling. to get the bling you must be king.

the best are going to want that..."3 time olympic gold medalist.." etc is better that 3 time 'abc' champ...

  7. You better bet a grand on him getting brutally Koed as there would be no headgear to protect that Glass Jaw.

pretty much yeah. Why would there need to be a AIBA Professional Boxing league though? The pros could have national qualifiers...there's no need for the ABP. Sounds like Wu just to make a bit of money on the side. While I wouldn't mind seeing some of these undeserving gold medalists blasted to pieces (Joshua, Ziming...), there's no way top level fighters are going to sign up for this crap.

they will. olympic gold is something to brag about. if you havent already got a WT and you want a shot, gold against other pros makes you a household name.

it will become the pinnicl e of boxing now that WT's are so meaningless. abcs are ****. no real champ, 5 different champs all refusing to fight eachother.

there can only be ONE olympic gold medalist in each division every 4 years. lots of fighters are going to want that. thats real bling. it isnt worthless leather round your waist from an abc body.

multiple gold medalist at heavywight.....ever heard of one? why? he was only an am.

I'm pretty sure they still get paid, just not 6 or 7 figures per fight.

dont like it...seems like a ratings move

plus what good pro is gonna go am for a full yr for the olympics, that just is a loss in money

probably failed pros or guys who are good but not elite

floyd wouldnt do it unless it was money or publicity

seems kinda dumb and doesnt solve the problems of the ams just ignores them

This is nothing more than wishful thinking, yeah a lot of WTs in some bodys are **** (WBF), but it's crazy to think these guys aren't gonna do it for a big pay day...

Exactly, I can't imagine even Broner taking a year out for a risk such as this, we'll just get the B-Grade leftovers who are willing to go back to AM.

Which means most of world notability will brush the idea off.

Yeah, but did they have to drop their pro careers for over a year?
    Didn't think so.
