Probably the main point is that these are the last guys to qualify, the elite, top ten in most weights, have already qualified. Amature boxing is very, very strong right now. The top boxers have ten or more fights a year against other top boxers, not cherry picked, many at semi-pro level. Only a special pro could win an Olympic gold now.

Ndam, for example, is a middleweight contender. But he's fighting at 178 (light heavy limit for amateurs) in these tournaments, when he has to keep weighing in before the bouts.

It's always bothered me when people started threads asking how Golovkin would do against Hagler, for example. When Hagler weighed in the day of the fight often around 157. And Golovkin weighs about as much as Archie Moore and Michael Spinks did for their light heavy fights.
