Light middleweight Jermell Charlo - looks like one hell of a puncher coming up the ranks at light middleweight. He's only 20, under three years as a pro and already looks like the goods. On a swing bout on the last Solo Boxeo Tecate undercard, he utterly destroyed a fat hedgehog named Adan Murillo. The win itself isn't that impressive, but when people say "anyone can look superhuman against certain opponents" - it's bull****. You can only look so good against a bottom-feeder unless you are pretty special in some ways. Murillo outweighed him by eleven pounds - boxrec has the weights listed wrong. On the broadcast's tale of the tape they showed that Charlo weighed in just about a pound over the 154lb limit, and Murillo weighed in within a two pounds of the super middleweight limit. You could see the difference in the ring - he was about ten pounds heavier...but it wasn't an advantage, as it wasn't lean muscle. Murillo didn't do much but curl up into a ball and whimper while beating a flat-footed retreat, but Charlo threw the kitchen sink at him - every punch you can think of thrown with textbook form to go along with speed, timing and power - all while moving like an ice skater around the ring, always balanced and fast on his feet. He looks the complete package offensively, and it will be interesting to see him step up and expose whatever flaws he may have...and then to see how he adjusts. There's not much in the way of youtube footage on him, obviously, as he's still a young buck and just starting out, but if this fight pops up I'll post it here. So far he's only got six stoppages in his twelve wins, but as most of us English-speaking fans saw with Maxim Vlasov the very same night on ESPN2, a mere 50% KO ratio can belie a very dangerous fighter with a good head for finishing.
Oh - if you go hunting for video, beware: he has a twin brother, who is an undefeated welterweight prospect, and named...wait for it...Jermall Charlo. atsch
Cool ill keep an eye out I missed the show. I know there are 2 rican brothers who look like decent prospects themselves. I think they are called Vazquez bros no sure though.
hahahaha holy ****. that's worse than travis and tarvis simms. i'm still waiting for the third brother, tavris, to come out of the woodwork.
I saw one of those two on ESPN FNF a while back. The one I saw was very tentative, moving around the ring and looking for counterpunching opportunities. Can't be Jermell I guess. His brother perhaps?
