Paul Alison is an action packed fighter with plenty of hart and a good chin. Enjoyed watching him in the amateurs. I believe in his second pro fight he and his opponent scored simultaneous knockdowns.

here is a wee story about paul ,he stays in stranraer and gets the ferry over once a week over to John Breems gym to get in sparring ,that is dedication. Paul is a bit reckless but that is his charm and has a decent chin though !

i dont know who hes been sparring mate but its a 2 hour ride,but prob quickler than a trip to edinburgh or glasgow ...

im looking forward to the show and charting his progress

Undefeated Scottish welterweight Chris Steel revealed today that he is learning important lessons since turning pro. Since joining the paid ranks Steel has notched up two victories ,and is enjoying the adjustment to the paid ranks "Well my first two fights have gave me an idea of what the pro game is like, it is totally different from amateur boxing . I have come through my first two fights with wins and learned a great deal from them, more so from my second fight which was tough against Phil Boyle"

He adds that he is also learning lessons about dieting after his last fight "I learned how important diet is (to boxing) and properly losing weight before a fight. I went into Boyle fight drained and i tired in the last two rounds but fought through it to secure the win"

With his third fight fast approaching, Steel will be sharing the ring with the experienced Danny Dontchev. In preparation for the fight he has been putting in some sparring with a fellow undefeated pro "The sparring has been going well, I stepped it up on Monday night and done 12 x 2 minute rounds straight with 4 different sparring partners and was feeling sharp. I have been sparring other pros's at the gym and will be doing my final couple of sparring sessions with Steven Sharoudi who is also an undefeated welterweight"

The tall southpaw also looks to use his height and reach to his advantage" I've just been practicing everything, making sure i use my height and reach advantages and working on my jab a lot because that punch is the key to most of my fights" he admits is in good shape ahead of may 20th " I've really got myself into shape for this one by running most mornings and being in the boxing gym 4 times a week with 2 days of weight training also"

Chris Steel fights on the Prospect Promotions bumper card on May 20th at Ravenscraig regional sports facility,. The bumper card features 7 fights featuring the undefeated John McCallum, Paul Allison and Wishaws comeback king Kenny Davidson.

training has been going well only 8 days now until the fight and i cant wait to get in their, about to head out a run just now then ill be back in the gym at 6!

Agreed that alot of people are saying the tickets are fairly pricey and i would tend to agree but ive been told this is the price they have to be to cover costs of the 7 fights and the people who are really wanting to support me have managed to pay it for all 3 of my fights so i cant complain with support like that

After a memorable year for Coatbridge boxer Ricky Burns ,he is to be honoured on the next Prospect Boxing show at Ravenscraig Sports Facility on Friday May 20th. The world champion is to be honoured with the inaugural "North Lanarkshires European sports personality of the year". The award is part of North Lanarkshire's current status as "European capital of sport" for 2011,but recognises Burns achievement at winning the WBO world belt and successfully defending it twice. The Coatbridge fighter will be in attendance to receive the award ,which is being presented by Lord Provost Tom Curly.

While Burns achievement's are being honoured at the show,fight fans will also be able to enjoy the action. On the night Paul Allison, John McCallum and Chris Steel look to stretch there unbeaten runs. Also in action is Kenny Davidson, Mark Bett,who takes on Alexander White in a return leg from last weeks fight at Bellahouston sports centre. After losing on points to White in an action packed fight, Bett will certainly look to reverse the decision in the rematch!
