It appears especially with added competition where we have reached the point taht prospects are going to be pushed a lot earlier in their career, as well as actually facing off with each other relatively early. For me this is all a good thing, exactly what we want to see. My one concern is will the new age of fans accept that this will mean the 0 isn't the be all and end all or is their a risk these prospects are goign to be written off as soon as pick up a loss?

no they can fight cans from a lower division for like 15 fights then move up to a more natural weight and get world title shots without facing the best in their country / county and dismissing all hard working guys around them doing it the hard way with no money backing them and no tabloids banging their drum
the foundations and the blueprints road maps have been set for boxing to slowly kill its self

I think Josh Taylor, Cheeseman, Davies, even Callum Smith v Fielding all moving relatively quickly, but the flip side to that is obviously Fielding lost one of them had to or you have Jake Ball walking through people touted next big thing, he got flattened at weekend is that him written off now?

hall will learn sh1t loads from it and will give him valuable lessons in what a tough teak rugged pro can bring
next time he will be under no illusions of what a past it pro still brings to the ring
no shame in losing to a jones type fighter at this point in his career it could make him or break him , he must not take it to hard and don't be to hard on himself

Hopefully although I think was to big a step in one go, the other side is he has demons and never the same kid again. But you can only hope it shows him where he needs to be

Ball was given a stiff to knock over and it backfired, this was a guy that was from a lower weight division, that was brought in on 3 weeks notice.

I think we can safely say Ball don't have it, at best he is battling British level.

Hall however did very well and was actually winning the fight and battling through pain and injury and it wasn't until he had injuries to both arms/shoulder that he was pulled out.

I don't know the full extent of his injuries but they sound like he might be on the shelf for a while, Snapped tendon in right hand and torn muscle in left shoulder.

If he can get back to full health and have a tune up or two he will have a good shot at beating Jones.

The problem is not that they're being pushed too early on, it's that they aren't earlier in their careers.
What I mean with that is that many careers consist of bumbashing and then get fed to the wolves, cashing out.
There's no steady "stepping up in class" every few fights anymore, mostly to avoid hiccups.

We now often see a guy fighting sub 200/300 guys for a while and then thrown in to fight someone with actual talent for some strap. Afterwards the losses often pile up because he never actually reached the level he's fighting at from that point on.

A big problem for a lot of fighters coming through is all these extra international titles like the WBC Silver title, the WBO European title etc, as they get taken down this route win one of these titles and think because their ranking then shows them as top 10-15 in world they are world level when many have not proved it at British level first and are often in reality nowhere near top 10-15 in the world. These titles often do not give a fighter a true reflection of were they are at, were as area, Commonwealth, British, European titles do that.

Tbh i m not sure i like the eddie hearn model atm. Seems like hes chucking them in a bit too early. Hes looking for guys that will make him money the quickest a lot of the time at the expense of their careers.

I hate wa rren but he was very good at managing peoples careers. He milked the titles but in terms of career progression he was a good bit better than hearn. Who,s looking more and more like a get quick rich guy.

Whats the rush anyway. Look at everyones career they all fought cans to start with. You have to progressively up it. Look at hattons career from the off under wa rren. It was near perfect. He milked that wbo far too long maybe 3 or 4 fights too long admittedly but he did end up getting him in a position ready for the top guys or as ready as he d ever be.

Say hatton fought eamon maghee five or six fights earlier. He might well have lost that fight. Lets be honest people get written off in boxing with a loss nowadays. Not just that look what happened to hatton after that loss to mayweather. He went off the rails. I think eddie needs someone in their with him that knows how to progress a career. Let eddie promote but let someone else map out careers. As a fan of boxing putting them in early probably suits me better but as someone looking at it from the boxers career perspective...hes got to give them a proper chance to grow. Fair enough chucking his more experienced guys in with tough tests at any point. But the guys coming through need more time that hes giving them.

I love upsets and unfortunately that usually means I enjoy prospects losing.
