Côté career is over. He has some kind of disease that makes his body overheat. Lemieux is still a prospect at 24-25 and has great power.
How about Michael Farenas? i know he's been there for a while now.. But.. he's still not in his prime..
I have to agree with Paperagent on this one so far. Time will tell if he really does or not but to this point AJ is KO'ing the type of blokes he should be stopping early. Most of the blokes he's fought have been knocked out multiple times before. we need to see him in with some sturdier more durable fighters before we can be to sure. that being said i hope he does prove himself to be a monstrously big puncher. seems to be a likable bloke and is already building a good following so will bring some excitement to the division
I personally can't see an argument as to how Kovalev is a bigger puncher than Beterbiev other than the fact that Kovalev has been up against better pros. Other than that, it's clear to see that Beterbiev's punches are point scoring punches and that when he intends power punches, they're very powerful. This is one good thing about Beterbiev going forward in future fights.
I hate to sound like a douchey ***** but Beterbiex is already like 30 and has been rather inactive since turning pro. He has had his last couple fights cancelled for whatever reason, I heard he may have been injured. He does have exceptional power though. He has fought some very durable guys early on and stopped them when they only offered a surival strategy as earlier stated.
For some reason or another Kovalev's punches to me look like they carry more force. :conf Mind you that most of Kovalev's punches aren't even full blown punches; he doesn't put everything he has into each individual punch in those 4-5 combinations (or at least I think so). When he lets a mean one rip; the world over feels it. Keep in mind that he took out a pretty durable fighter out with a JAB to the body. That's in unusual power. I guess we'll have to see in the future when Artur steps up in competition to properly gauge their respective power punching capabilities.
Because he lost the seventh round after winnig at age 22 the first six round of a fight against a top notch chalenger and lost a split decision against a former world champ? Except the Mayweather type of guy most champ are still being fed taxi cab driver at that age. Lemieux is still a chalenger, he is younger than Beterbiev.
Their are a lot of Eastern European prospect with great power like Beterbiev/Mekhontsev/Davtaev/Khytrov and Kudryashov. But my favourite at the moment is Olexandr Usyk, who has only got 4 fights but is the most powerful and skilled cruiser I've seen on the scene.
It was in the local media about two years ago. I am from Quebec city. A disease might not be the proper term. Maybe more a condition or syndrom. But he just can't train anymore. That is a shame indeed. He was a really exciting prospect.
