The rules are there, you are expected to fight within them, if you are hit outside those rules then it's not a punch,it's a foul. Appropriate action should be taken (no contest etc)

 

Mayweather vs Ortiz is a great example. We saw it in the Bellew Haye fight too. Bellew offered a glove and Haye almost took his head off. Obviously not very sporting but well within the rules.

 

Boxers should learn by now that tapping gloves with each other and expecting some sort of gentlemen's code doesn't really happen.

Turn your back your gonna get pumped hard

Fighters job is to win and refs job is to ensure safety. Can't blame fighter for opponents lack of professionalism or refs response
