Yeah beyond the things you cite I don't think Provodnikov really has the jab or awkwardness to create anywhere near the same kinds of problems as Maidana did to Mayweather.

I'm one of Algieri's original supporters pre Provo fight, you know I know a lot about prospects:yep
So I'm not coming from a Pacquiao supporters perspective, I think Algieri has next level talent, he would make Floyd come to him, he wouldn't try to bully him, he would possibly fail, but... he's rangy and awkward enough that he may possibly succeed.

He WAS overrated. Now, people have jumped off the bandwagon (when Algieri scorecards were read) just as fast as they jumped on it (vs. Bradley, round one).

I guess he still beats most 135'ers moving up and beats a lot of the current weak 140 division, but he is nothing special, would lose to most fighters who are good, not even great, at certain elements of boxing. And I would pick him to beat none of the current top 10 at WW, unless you rank Khan in the top 10 there.... Provodnikov is pretty one dimensional.

Indeed . That speaks volumes .

There could easily be an argument made , that Ruslan has beaten all 3 of those boxers that he "Lost" to .

Except for Bradley , I had that fight a DRAW . He did not do enough to beat TB

If anything I would say hes slightly underrated now because ever since his last fight ,(Which most felt should have went his way) people are dismissing him left and right .

Hes a dangerous fight for any WW period , His opponents are not being hospitalized for no reason .

No matter what style a fighter is , you are going threw hell and back when you face off against Ruslan . Period .

Prov is pretty deadly, but like most Roach fighters, gas in the later rounds, esp since they tend to start so fast as if its a 4 round fight. Anyways, the Prov-Algeri fight could have gone either ways, Algeri showed heart and skill where many would have given up in 2-3 rounds. Prov was attacking body with as much conviction as the head, he is a monster and raises his game when he does that, it was that same head/body attack that destroyed Alvarado. Once Prov stopped throwing to the body and started only to headhunt and strangely only throwing one punch at a time, that's when he have Algeri the opportunity to establish his range and distance and allowed Algeri to get back into the fight. So no, after a close losses to an elite like Bradley and a good boxer like Algeri, there's nothing overrated about Prov. Those 2 had go to hell and back in order to win, and this is a Prov that with a more consistent body attack and jab could be even more effective than Maidana is today. But once Prov stops using the jab and body attack he's not fighting like an elite anymore, goes back down to espn level fighter.

Any explosive, aggressive and exciting fighter with power will be automatically overrated. Just take a look at Golovkin. I'm a big fan of Golovkin myself but the way he's being hailed lately, you would think he beat them all when in reality his biggest win is Curtis Stevens.

Herrera ****ed him up like he ****ed up Garcia.

Bradley beat him even though he stood there and traded ... we're talking about featherfisted bradley.

:think GGG's gotten 4 top 10 guys to step in against him since he got on HBO, and Stevens was the lowest rated of the bunch.

If you mean big as in getting casual U.S. fight fans' attention, you may be right. Stevens and Rosado were there for name value, fan friendly styles matchups, and "street cred", primarily.

Provodnikov is unbeaten, he just happens to get robbed against American fighters while fighting as a Russian in the US.

    Augustus
    Herrera
    Corley
    Bradley
    Alvarado
    Algieri

    Solid resume.
