It's not just the stabbing. To be honest. Jo Jo Dan was a mado who was due by the end April, or Brook would be stripped of his title. And without a title in the Haymon/ Arum dominated 147 division, Brook would have no chance of getting a big name into the ring. As regards the Gavin fight, here are the reasons why that fights happening: - The main event of the card was going to be DeGale v Dirrell but Matchroom lost the purse bid. -5-6 weeks out Matchroom had paid all this money to undercard fighters, they needed a main event to replace it to make it seem PPV worthy. Of the top Matchroom guys Froch and Quigg was still injured, so Brook stepped in despite only fighting 3 weeks earlier- a fight he is going to have AS WELL AS, not INSTEAD OF the two fights he's fighting in August and November. - With 5-6 weeks notice they needed to find an opponent who the IBF would accept, would be willing to split the 1.1m they had left to spend on the show with Brook. - The top ranked available IBF contender being that Khan ducked and Bradley went the WBO route was Frankie Gavin, who was ready to fight as he had been in training for a fight in May 9th with Chris van Heerden and being that he was the top ranked IBF challenger and Khan would've continued to duck Brook- Brook would've had to fight Gavin anyway before the year is out or vacate his belt. So basically, anyone giving Brook criticism for the Gavin fight is criticizing him for fighting him this weekend and having two more fights later in the year, rather than not fighting this weekend, having two fights later this year with Gavin most likely being one of them.
I will add the IBF are more strict on their rules than the WBO/ WBC/ WBA and anyone coming off a defeat is very rarely accepted as acceptable opponents unless it's a rematch of a controversial result (see Froch v Groves 2). So the likes of Guerrero, Maidana and Alexander would've have probably been rejected anyway. Thurman is not ranked in the top 10 of any of the governing bodies because he is the WBA 'regular' champion and only relevant to them. The Rios fight is planned for August at the moment. As much as ellerbe the alt wants to say Brook could've fought him on May 30th, it's nonsense, for two reasons: 1. Despite what Robert Garcia said in an interview the other week, Rios was not ready to fight at the end of May because only a few days later Rios said he's wouldn't be ready to fight on Bradley's card at the end of June 2. The August date has US TV backing, likely to take place in an Stadium venue, and the undercard won't be as stacked, meaning there is a lot more money in it for Arum & Rios- so what do you think they really want. Regarding Bradley, at the time this fight was made it was supposedly more or less a done deal that he was going to fight Bundrage at 154 (on the same date as he fighting Vargas). That fight fell through, but Bradley pulled out of the rankings when a shot at the WBO became available. The fight with Vargas is an easier fight not on foreign soil, and he will earn 2m for that fight on his own, which him and Brook wouldn't make between them if they fought this weekend. And anyone who wants to argue Bradley would've taken it because he's a warrior, cast your mind back to when Bradley took a fight with Joel Casmayor over Amir Khan for the same money. So basically, had he not fought this weekend a final eliminator would've been ordered between Khan and Gavin. Khan would've rejected and Gavin would be mandatory anyway. I.E. If he didn;t fight this weekend, one of his two remaining fights would've been Gavin.

Hey Hans mate, its probably best if we consign that snide samurai ellerbe to his recycling bin. The prat pm'd me accusing me of being Serge, telling me that "As Serge I should have the decency to come clean" and that he thought Serge was a good poster. He then huffily advised me that I was on his ignore list. I guess he c then surrendered. The sad, snide samurai!! I guess his Fantasy Island isn't large enough to accommodate any realists.
:thumbsup Good post. The Gavin situation is obvious, all people have to do is spend a minute and view the IBF WW rankings!! But I guess some would prefer to not allow the truth obstruct their agebda. I knew the Bradley fight was a non-starter. And Maidana, Guerrero and Alexander were obviously ruled out. I love how Thurman has "back doored" his way to the WBA Regular title, and will solidify his claim by fighting Collazo! I really do rate Keith , but thats a joke (though some will proudly proclaim him champion). The Rios fight looks like being an excellent payday for Kell, and he will comfortably handle Brandon. Who do you think will be after Rios, Hans? Could it be Thurman? Bradley? Khan? Any of those would be great. Or will Kell take a mando with a view to a Pacquiao fight (assuming Floyd retires after his next fight, which rules out a Manny rematch).
Brook is NOT better than Tim Bradley. So, it is purely a matter how much Provo has left in the tank to make it a memorable event.
Serge is a great poster, although very different from you. ellebre probably thinks, "Serge is a Brit that owns me, as is BillyWhizz so they must be the same person" Little does the "master of euros/brits" know he's a troll with a mundane personality with a hideous pair of twig wrists and a big donger swinging from his hideous meter high forehead and thus requires very little effort to own. He kept inboxing me telling me to sykpe his world of warcraft friend from Japan for some reason. After a bit I just deleted them before I read them. Between me and you, I don't think he's wired up right. Bless his little cotton socks :grouphug

You pm-ed me 9 times in a row due to being humiliated by me, saying "you didn't read my post". You're terrified of reading what I write, that's why you always reply wiht "didn't read it". I'll copy paste what I said in my message :rofl just admit it, you live on this site, and I've made your time miserable on here byn humiliating you in front of the only social interaction you get. they look at you as some virgin loser in the real world, who's terrified to skype, and show who you really are in the real world.
I didnt even know serge is a brit, and he's never "owned me", nor have I had an argument with him. I'm 99% sure Billy is serge though, I'm sure he's denying it, and it's a shame because I did consider him a very good poster. While I find you extremely pathetic for being terrified to skype and show me what kind of place you live in, and what you're like in real life(a no life virgin), making a trolling alt that averages 32 posts a day, and being too scared to confront someone on your main account is more pathetic in my books. But still you're terrified just admit it . I love the excuses, it just shows how much you care to prove that you're not scared. The only way to prove otherwise is to actually skype me. Otherwise even yourn fellow brits like duckler know how scared you are.
