This might be true, especially since Cherry Garcia moved to the most toughest divison (143 lbs)

Garcia is a joke but he is still easily a Top 3 fighter in that division...although it's very clear that he can't actually make 140 anymore so I guess we could exclude him from the division and claim Matthysse the champ after he defeats Provo.

All I know is the belts for the 140 division are currently bieng held hostage by a cheat & a man who can't even make the weight...

La Máquina already knocked out the IBF champ, would obliterate the WBA champ (Vargas) and IMO would beat the WBC champ in a rematch...but that's assuming Garcia ever returns to 140, which he won't.

After beating Provodnikov next month I'd like to see him reclaim his WBC Silver belt from Luca Giacon.

    a) Matthysse vs. Giacon = FIREWORKS, maybe even more so than Matthysse vs. Provodnikov even. (yes, I mean that, for those who don't follow the Euro scene :deal)

    b) It puts him in a comfortable position to either rematch Garcia or slide in for a shot at the vacant belt when Garcia officially lets go of it.

Lol no it won't. Not until Garcia moves up. Garcia already made Matt his ***** and Algeri ate Provo's best punches for breakfast and outboxed him.

This is a fight to see which fighter is still relevant at 140.

No point in a rematch with Garcia. Matthysse gets beaten again. Garcia already showed he's a level above Matthysse.

Garcia needs to rematch Herrera or fight his mandatory, Postol.

No, that didn't happen at all. Garcia got the worst of it overall until the swelling started to get bad.

Garcia beat him, no denying that but he made Lucas his *****? :rofl
It was a good fight and Garcia barely won it. He deserves credit but it was as competitive as it could have been.
And Algieri went down from Provodnikovs best punches. But he ended up schooling him:yep

Everyone talks about the swelling. I didn't see Algieri or Lebedev complain as much as Matthysse fans do. Sorry, Matthysse got beaten. Swollen eye or not, he gets beaten again. Garcia already proved he's the better man. It's time to move on.

I would like to see Garcia - Matthysse rematch. Lucas should wear kevlar jockstrap and get some good cutman.

Garcia hasn't fought at 140lbs for more than a year and when he did, he lost to Herrera.

    He's no 140 champ.

not really, it was also a close fight, just like Herrera

Garcia seems to be the judges' favorite in close fights, except he's not as good as his people think he is
