I don't love him...don't really like him either. Just being humble and not having an ego automatically gets you alot of people liking you in boxing.
I like watching him fight. He is just overrated at the moment. He is in the Matthysse/Maidana category... overrated power, limited boxer, fun to watch but no wins over top guys. They lose to solid boxers.
To judge something like power in boxing you have to have reference point....Matthysse & Maidana are that reference point in their respective divisions. so how is their power overrated when you can't rate it below anyone else? Unless people are saying "Omgerd he is the most powerful puncher in the history of this division)
They have power, no doubt. But people are acting like these 3 have HW power at 140-147. Maidana couldn't even KO Khan, Lucas couldn't stop Zab, etc etc. Hence my use of overrated (not non existent) power.
Forget the power. What a heart! The guy loves to fight. Loves to please his fan base. He puts it all out there. He epitomizes what I love about boxing. Here is a kid who came from the Siberian woods of Russia, comes to the regional "big city" in his area, KO's a couple guys and some promoter sees this and immediately brings him to the real big city and the rest is history. Without boxing he would have been a trucker in some Siberian outback city until the day the died. Instead, he has admirers from around the world. He is a real modern day Rocky.
