Small doesnt sound hurt and doesnt look hurt after the fight. He says it was a game plan to play on the ropes and he was never hurt and he says the referee has left his careers in tatters by stopping it too soon. I like Small as a fighter and I think he would have won the fight.
small was taking rounds off he was struggling with the pace, i think pryce wudda got a decision small was impressive in parts a lot more impressive than his contender fight, no play acting to the cameras, hands held high etc
I had Small 4-2 up at the time of the stoppage. He was hurt by a couple of shots but then got his arms up and started blocking the rest when the ref stepped in. At no point did Small look like being dropped once he survived the first hook, the ref was far too eager to step in.
That had such potential to be a really good fight. Its really begining to bug me now! I don't want any fighter to get badly hurt in the ring but there's a real prevalance of prematurely halted fights in the UK. Calzaghe vs Manfredo being even worse. And its ripping of the fans as well.
For anything to change regards the premature stoppages. Anthony Small needs to lodge a formal complaint about this fight being stopped too soon. Everyone could see he was perfectly ok to continue and he had not taken any punishment up until that point. The referee's need to let the fighter fight.
I dunno, I though he was two ahead at the time. I only gave Pryce the 1st and the 6th and although he was busier throughout, Small was rolling under and blocking most of his shots while landing the more significant counters. Regardless of that, I thought the fight was too close for the ref to be stepping in at the first sign of a guy being hurt. Small had been on the ropes all fight and it wasn't even a one sided beating like the early JC - Manfredo stoppage. He should've at least given the guy one chance as it wasn't like Pryce was landing loads of unanswered head shots.
