Damn Bro -- you almost brought tears to my eyes. You say alexis "performed gallantly." "Gallant" is the perfect word to use to describe Mr Arguello.

unflinching in battle or action; "a gallant warrior"; "put up a gallant resistance to the attackers"

dashing: lively and spirited; "a dashing hero"

having or displaying great dignity or nobility

    an ideal knight

So there it all is. I am now in the camp that Pryor was undoubtably aided by illegal stimulants. It's all there from Steward.

The question that begs - how would Arguello have gone in the first fight minus the bottle. The first defeat had to have taken some out of him for the rematch.

I was actually amazed when he said that.

Arguello was coming on strong in that first fight and the cards were close but he was a sliver behind he could have got that decision. I think he could of just nicked it by winning the last few rounds.

Open your ****en eyes people.......first Resto admits that not only were the paddings taken off his gloves in the Collins fight, but that Panama had done so in other fights and used plaster in his wraps to boot........
Resto goes on to claim that that Panama would give him concoction to open up his lungs so that he could breath easier.......

Now we have Emmanuel Steward saying that Pryor himself admitted it to him right before the Arguello rematch in not so many words?????

    Wake up people!!!!!

Aaron Pryor ****en cheated Alexis Arguello of history.....Pryor was drinking from the bottle mix from the very early rounds......he was lucking tired in the 13th......drinks from the bottle mix inbetween rounds 13 and 14......and comes out invigorated for round 14.....

When will you people say it as it should.....

Aaron Pryor was a ****ing cheater!:fire

Luis Resto basically fessed up to everything, and I've seen a few Pryor backers on this forum question Resto's motives......
......now we have Emmanuel Steward basically saying that Pryor admitted to him that he was getting away with doing some shady illegal things with Panama Lewis.:-(

There was only one round left after the 14th.

The question isn't just the finish and/or closeness, what about the early rounds given no stimulants?

This will never be answered but it sure makes some sort of case for Arguello.

well the 14th and the 15th rounds i was meaning.

great points we will never know how it would have played out i think we could have had the first ever 4 weight world champ right there in Arguello

I'm still surprised Manny said that. He didn't exactly beat around the bush about it, either.

I'm really pissed that Emmanuel Steward has waited all these years to come out with it......

I'm of the belief that Alexis Arguello deep down knew that Pryor cheated........but it bothers me that Arguello is'nt alive to hear it confirmed from the trainer that trained Pryor after Panama was banned......

Its just depressing to me......Alexis takes his own life, and now after all these years, after HBO's documentary of Luis Resto's illegal assault on Billy Collins, Emmanuel Steward now touches on the subject......:-:)-:)-:)-(

    Alexis Arguello deserved better!

Probably a draw, though Lopez could just have enough to edge it.
