The question is not whether he hits Pryor. He will hit him. The question is whether he can hurt Pryor. I don't think so.
Pac has skill, but I don't think this is enough to keep Aaron off him. Manny puts up a good effort but is gradually overwhelmed as he is worn down by Pryor's unrelenting attack.
Another thing, if you actually watched the fight last night, Pacquiao didn't really show a whole lot of technical brilliance, if at all, like he did in the De La Hoya fight. A guy like Pryor, who'd force him to fight up close like that all night, is probably going to overpower him down the stretch in a slugfest.
The Hawk is just to much for a game Pac, Aaron takes a big punch and can dish out a withering attack, Pryor has the speed to handle Pac and the chin to take his best punch, its taking nothing away from a great Manny.
There is this thing called game plan. You can't expect a fighter fighting the same way against different type of opponents.
id give the edge to pryor in a war. but pac cannot be counted out Pryor TKO13 btw is it for 15 or 12 rounds? both amazing fighters, both underrated when it comes technical skills, both having great stamina, this should have been a fight for the ages
I agree with this. I think there's an opportunity if you can back Pac up. I mean really back him up, not allow him to play angles. I'd think of guys like Azumah Nelson or Jeff Fenech who could close the gap quickly and intelligently without getting their head ripped off. Obviously it would have to be someone a hell of a lot better than Hatton, which of course Pryor is.
Pac definitely has the better resume - but not necessarily in and around 140. Most of his biggest wins have been at 126-130. Still, I would say his upset of DeLaHoya was an even bigger and more impressive achievement than Pryor's upset of Arguello - and he didn't need help from a magic water bottle to do it. Moreover, Pryor had a relatively brief run as a top tier fighter and his career petered out right when he really should've been reaching his peak. I think Pryor gets overrated by a lot of people, particularly those who think he was some kind of unbeatable god at 140. I think Pac's got a lot that would trouble Pryor. He's a quicker, more precise puncher IMO, and moreover Pryor has sometimes been made to look bad by southpaws (something that people in this thread picking Pyror have overlooked). Pryor is possibly physically stronger and more powerful at this weight, but I'd love to see how he handles those quick straight lefts and short, quick right hooks from someone like Pac.
I would say Pac is a straighter and more precise puncher than Pryor, and has the extra advantage of throwing his punches from a southpaw stance (Hatton has shown signs of a stylistic problem with southpaws). While I'd definitely pick Pryor to stop Hatton as well, I don't know that he would simply blow through him in 1 or 2 rounds like Pac did. I would envision that it would take him more like 4-6 rounds.
