well, if aa were fighting ward next he very well may be out of the tourney. but froch, stylistically, is probably the best next fight for arthur. someone who will stand in front of him and let him tee off.
Well, I never said he wasn't hurt. He got concussed as far as I know. Hell, I got a little concussed when I saw it.
I haven't thought too much about the fight because it was too far off, but.. Lujuan Simon split AA's guard Andre Dirrell split AA's guard I will give Froch his due in power. AA has some serious retooling to do. This is going to sound like a cheap shot but is a serious question. Did AA move up to SMW because he wasn't dedicated enough to training to make weight at MW anymore? Does this mean he doesn't have what it takes to do some major retooling? His style is based on conserving energy and then exploding. Can he be more active over 12 rounds without being the one that fades down the stretch? I don't think at this point he can really do much about endurance. Froch will be more like Pavlik in the sense that he will bring power early and often. AA may have to go for broke much sooner in the fight. AA doesn't really fire back while under siege.
your right, aa doesnt really fire back when pressure is applied but when he does decide to explode out, his right hand will find a home against froch. that is more of a testament to carl's style an aa's. froch's hands are too low and his chin is not very hard to find since he's not very mobile. now, will the few shots aa decides to throw be enough to stop carl or will carl's pressure be too much? that will be the question. carl is tough but i've seen him rattled and hurt. he got buzzed against dirrell pretty good after the point deduction.
U aint kidding me you have been a full time Dir. nuthugger from day one dont try to play it down then back up a little.
I joined ESB in August 2006. I have nearly 14,000 posts. I've seen the denial, lies, fairy tales, and foolishness that goes on around here on a daily basis. Generally, if you prove someone wrong, or the facts simply do not support their opinion, that poster will go into denial, or throw up some bull**** diversion, name calling, et. In the case of Andre Dirrell I had a choice: I could ignore the fact that he is way better than I thought he he was, say nothing, and pretend the Abraham fight never happened. I could just build the Dirrell/Abraham fight into my on going anti-abraham agenda, and ridicule AA for getting his ass whipped by a green prospect. Or, I could come out and tell the truth about what I said previously, what I saw in the fight, and what I think now. It seems like more than a few people had great fun critisizing me for taking the high road. Well -- if you're a moral midget, an ethical ******, and an all around reprobate, get the **** off my thread. It's for grown men, and you do not belong.
WHAT? Dirrell's career has been on TV since his pro debut. Him and his brother were fighting on cards together on ESPN and Fox Sports since 2004.. I used to get Andre Dirrell mixed up with Andre Ward when they were starting their careers... How could you not know who this guy was before the S6T?
Hermit, it's ok to provocate a bit and basically I agree with you. Abraham has well earned to be criticized. However, the punch which lead to the disqualification looked not very strong. AA's position from which he threw the punch and the angle of his arm should make it very hard to get a lot pop behind the punch - even for a guy like him.
I've posted this in several threads. This really rings true, for me at least, and pretty much describes what we see. It also reiterates that the doctors in attendance would not have been fooled. They didn't send him to the hospital to cover his ass. This reply was posted in the comments section to a front page article: Blaze After viewing the fight and witnessing the controversy in posts about AD faking, I decided to show the fight to my mother who is a physician to get her assessment. What we thought was AD's leg shaking was actually him instinctively trying to get up. It was her assessment that after he was hit that he wasn't out completely. His leg moving was him trying to roll over which he began to after about 7 or 8 seconds, but only making it to his side. Apparently she said when you're hit like that you r nerves shut down and you slowly begin to regain control of your body. She also mentioned that the doctor would have known he was faking as soon as they check his vitals, but she would have to have taken the vitals herself to know for sure. 01.04.10 @ 21:24:16 So that "fake convulsion" in his leg may have actually been the warrior in him trying to get up off the canvas. Ironic people point to that specifically to call him a cheating coward.
I'd never presume to call him a coward and I've no answer to the question whether he faked the KO or not. In the end AA received his "reward".
