It was clear that Benevidez was not even close to being 100% in his fight against Crawford. You can't blame a guy for trying to earn the big bucks but this fight actually came off as a bit of a scam. You could see Benevidez could not place weight on the leg and therefore could not move properly. That was why he was constantly trying to coax Bud into exchanging with him on the ropes. It wasn't that Benevidez wanted to be exchanging on the ropes, he just didn't have the ability to move and this was his way of hiding this fact. Boxing commissions need to be more thorough in assessing whether fighters should be in the ring before signing off on a fight. They failed the public on this one. Benevidez is a good fighter but he had no business being in the ring last night, especially against a guy the caliber of Crawford.
Twas pretty clear that Benevidez didn't want to lead because the counters coming back were too fast for him. He tried to fight Terry the same way Griffen fought Jones
Now I'm no doctor, so don't hold me to it. But having a metal projectile pass through your leg at a very high velocity damages the body. Now I'm not completely sure if that is unhealthy because again I'm not no doctor.
Well none of us are doctors. I'd be interested in a medical opinion on the impact of a high velocity projectile going and in and out of a mans leg.
You could see Benevidez had very little mobility. He was faking it well or at least did for nearly the whole fight. That's why his stance was so wide. That's why he was awkwardly knocked off balance on several occasions. What surprises me is that Crawford didn't recognize this early on and attack him like wolves on red meat. He would have blown Benevidez out early if he had.
He was partially crippled. The guy was shot in the leg for goodness sake and advised in no uncertain terms, to never box ever again. There seems to be a pattern with Crawford's opponents. Jeff Horn had already been in a car accident, and had undergone surgery after his throat got slit and had problems with his foot. His next opponent will probably have undergone a kidney transplant before Crawford is confident of getting in the ring again.
Benavidez was ready and put up a good fight. Tougher than anyone Crawford has fought up to this point, and Crawford gets full credit for the win.
@mirkofilipovic should be ashamed for liking this comment.. but like I've saidd before, most people DKSAB.
