That's a no brainer. There were many Tribes besides the Aztecs in Mexico, and many are still around. But they were all under the Aztec Empire. True not all Mexicans are "Mesitzos" (though the majority are) and there are many other cultures that have contributed to it's mixing pot. Even though a Mexican may not have authentic Aztec blood, they still might have that "Aztec warrior" spirit and mindset. It's engrained in the culture, look at the Mexican flag, the Aztec spirit is preserved within it for all Mexicans to remember and pay homage to. That's why they refer to themselves as "Aztec Warriors". Comprendes? :good By the way The MEX vs PR rivalry is the best out there in boxing!!!
you should put cintron vs margo TWICE: Mex and then margo vs cotto: Mex and then calderon vs. segura: Mex :deal
Some classics, forgotten bouts (this is how incredible this rivalry is): Kid Azteca-Cocoa Kid *Draw *Azteca UD *Azteca UD Carlos Ortiz-Sugar Ramos *Ortiz KO *Ortiz KO and the FIRST mexico v. pr title fight: *Sixto Escobar KO Rodolfo Casanova
Sugar Ramos was cuban tho. He fought off of Mexico, but still Cuban. Carlos Ortiz KO Battling Torres is one not mentioned too much as well. Others: Wilfred Benitez SD Carlos Palomino Pipino Cuevas KO Angel Espada x3 Ricardo Lopez TKO Alex Sanchez By far the greatest rivalry in boxing :good It goes from waaay back, through many weight classes, its a great rivalry, has been in the past and will continue to be in the future.
I thought Ramos was half Cuban half Mexican. Well anyway, I laugh at these other suggestions, no other rivalry comes close.
not only is it the best, but skillwise it's ****en insane.....just take a look at the juanma vs rafa fight....great ****en scrap, but with real skill involved......
I believe Ramos eventually became a Mexican citizen, like how Jose Napoles did, i could be wrong tho. But yes, no other boxing rivalry comes close to the great Mex-PR rivalry.
