You most likely typed in Pastelles....must be a typo.....tamales are a Mexican version made with corn masa and other goodies and wrapped
in corn husks.
Pastelles are wrapped in banana leaves...I guess its close enough????

 

When it comes to statistics, PR being the one of the smallest countries has produced the most World Champs of any country, and that includes the HUGE country of Mexico.
