He reminds me of the stand up, hit me style reminiscent of early 20th century fighters. Evolution apparently skipped him Mr. Kubrat.
The thing is he's a top contender, he beat Ustinov, Thompson and Dimintrenko, better and more deserving than guys like Wach, Pianeta, Mormeck, Leapai and Thompson. So he's more deserving than anyone Wlad has fought in 3 years other than Povetkin. Pulev never had the style to beat Wlad. Wlad had nothing to fear, Pulev didn't even have a punchers chance which is why we saw a more aggressive Wlad.
:deal Pulev also has porous defense and utilizes zero head movement. How he managed to get to 20 - 0 as a professional heavyweight is commendable in light of those two significant weaknesses. I believe the end result was due to the style match-up, plus Wladimir's desire to make a statement. He went out there with the intent to do damage and did so this time. Contrary to what most people believed prior to the fight, Pulev was one of the perfect opponents for Wlad to showcase his offense against.
At least he came to fight and gave it all which cant be said about Leapai,Mormeck and all those black American bigmouths who talked a lot but didnt show anything inside the ring.Pulev had been unfeated before the faced Wlad+he had been the most deserving challenger out there.Wlad just plays in a differnent league. In tonight's fight Pulev would have probably beaten 99% of all present living heavies out there.
Pulev didn't quit, but he was severely outgunned (and outclassed) against the far better boxer. He was in over his head.
Actually, thing is wlad was that good to make a solid contender like Pulev look like a complete amateur. has to be said though Pulevs a sore loser in attributing Wlads win to luck. There was nothing lucky about klitschkos win, he was just a class or two better than Pulev.
Pulev's post fight statement was embassaring.Sore loser he was! He truly has no idea how to sell himself to the world out there. Not a very marketable fighter outside his native Bulgaria.
:deal I still find it hard to understand why more than a few people gave Pulev a decent chance to win. No hate towards Pulev but his qualities just weren't the ones needed to be a real threat towards Wlad.
i agree, he seems to overestimate his market value outside of bulgaria, he was interrupting the interviewer post fight and taking the mic from him to speak to his bulgarian followers in the hall, all of this live on german telly, as if any of the german spectators were interested in what he was telling his kinsmen in bulgarian, who does he think he is? Oh yes, a thoroughly beaten contender, maybe. He acted as if he was the morale winner of the bout, couldnt understand why.
I was totally puzzeld when watching him give his ridiculous statement.Anyway! How are you,my friend? Everything okay??I hope so! Good to "see" you still here:hi::happy! Cheers, mate!:good
I'm fine, thank you, nice to see you re still around here, too, sharing your boxing knowledge with us :good
I must admit I thought Pulev would have done better than he did. I thought he at least would have the durability to take it late or even make it the distance in a very one sided fight. But Wlad was not paying around this time. People need to take more notice of fighters styles and how that will effect the fight. Anyone looking to out box Wlad in this era is on the path to a one sided beating. The fighters that have given Wlad problems like Brewster, Sanders and Peter took the fight to him, they didn't stand at a distance where Wlad is at his most comfortable and effective.
