You suspected right. I've already seen two Wilder fanboys utter this exact sentiment. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Pulev has a better win resume AND has been in with Wlad. Ok he got pummelled but he will have learned from this. He's no soft touch but I still expect AJ to have too much power and movement for him.

Thompson was like 73 years old. And since when was Dimitrenko a true top 10? Who's his top win, Sprott?

Pulev's loss to Wlad is better than any win on Wilder's pathetic scam resume.

Thompson and Dimitrenko were both top ten ring magazine heavyweights when Pulev fought him.

Whilst I think Wilder would beat Pulev, I think Pulev's resume is better. Wins over Thompson and Dimitrenko are superior to a win over Stiverne.

Yeah, I thought about saying I wouldn't be surprised if they said he should drop a belt to fight Wilder, but didn't want to give them ideas. Shouldn't have worried, I've seen that sentiment out there now as well. Crazy. Wilder is at the approximate level of Pulev, no more, no less, he'll have to wait his turn until it makes sense for AJ to fight him. He could jump ahead quite easily if he fought and beat Ortiz, but I'm not holding my breath.

    Including Wilder himself, most likely.

Seriously, based on what? Who did he defeat to get that honor. And in retrospect, isn't it pretty obvious that he was never contender material? Gatekeeper at best, probably a notch below that.

I think Pulev has a pretty good record for a guy with only one title opportunity thus far!!! He beat Thompson after Tony "shocked" the world by beating the really overhyped David Price twice . He totally dominated Ustinov who is definitely one of the better guys out there. And he beat Chisora far easier than Dillian Whyte did! Look at Wilder's opponents!! Currently only Steverne is ranked in the top 10 of any governing body, whilst you see Chisora, Dimitrenko, Ustinov all up there in the top 10! That says enough!!! Pulev may not be better than Deontay but has fought tougher guys for sure (including WK)!!!

Pulev would be much more highly regarded if he weren't utterly destroyed by Wlad. It's the elephant in the room.

That outcome was inevitable. Pulev fights the same jab - straight right clinch game Klitschko does. Klitschko just does it better in every way while have a semblance of defense while doing it. However that style dominated the division for 10 years so Pulev being able to have success comes as no surprise. Pulev beats many fighters who can't deal with that style. It's unfortunate for Pulev that he chose the one guy to fight who has proven he can handle it.

Pulev has a better resume than Wilder, but then, who doesn't?

Yeah neither of them were top 10 at the time of the fight.
