Last night Jimm Watt, commentating on SkySports, exclaimed that Mosley should be pulled out by his corner. I think it was at the ends of rounds 9/10. Was just wondering if this was echoed on the commentery you guys were listening to? Jim Watt (who i really dislike when it comes to commentary) was strongly biased toward Mayweather and kept bringing up the subject of Shane having to quit. I think Shane was always going to finish the fight and although Nazim threatened to pull him, it was a bit of a scare tactic and inevitably it would go the full 12.
He probably should have been pulled out. He was taking a beat down for the second half of the fight without really doing, or attempting to do, anything in return
It wasn't that bad of a beating, more like a boxing lesson. Nazim said to Shane, don't make me do something i dont want to do" after the 9th i believe. hbo commentators(lampley, merchant, and emmanuel) werent talking about stopping the fight though.
Yeah I really ****ing hate Jimm watt. All they were talking about was Mayweather Mayweather Mayweather. Seriously shut the **** up. It's like they gave up all hope after the 3rd round on him. This is why I hate listening to him.
I was watching the Sky Sports broadcast so I don't recognize any of the announcers' voices, but whoever the Scottish guy was, he was talking down to Mosley from like Round 3.
he was throroughly dominating an opponent that many picked him to lose against, who else were they going to talk about when shane did nothing in the fight besides about a minute of second round. he might have had two good jabs in the first rd too.
Yeah Mayweather was dominating. But the way Sky put it is rediculous. They have a repuation for being biased. And this was one of them.
well the hbo team was the exact opposite they took every opportunity to say something negative about floyd....so i guess it balances out...i think thats the problem with his fights they never produce drama because he outclasses his opponent so its either u ride him hard and talk about how great he is, or u give him props and take shots at him because u dont like him, because the fight itself did not produce the drama (even tho it was a very good fight but after round 3 it was a schooling).
Naazim Richardson threatened to do that after round 10 and probably should have, Shane didn't have any shot at winning left and was just cruising for additional punishment, at his age every punch absorbed counts.
Skysports loves pure boxers, they appreciate boxers way more than American audiences and commentators. Floyd Mayweather is one of their favorites, they treat him like a living legend. They gush the same way for Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins; it's just a different way of looking at the sport.
IMHO, he should have been pulled out. As much as I like Mayweather that was a pointless beating after round 9 or 10. I don't like to see a veteran great like Mosley have to go through that.
Shane was tired and was getting smacked around but it wasn't worthy of being cut short. Every once in a while Shane showed he could defend himself. It was a thorough schooling but not completely dangerous for him. Being in danger of being ko'd and being in danger of being seriously hurt are 2 different things. DLH fight with Pac was just DLH throwing nothing at all round after round but not having the weakness of chin to go down, though he was obviously done. This was more dangerous than a wobbly kneed fighter like Shane getting the smack down by a quicker fighter. I worried he would get ko'd, esp. in the final round, but never worried for his safety.
