I wonder if there is a correlation between how intelligent you are and punch resistance.

From my own personnel experience I have found fighters with granite beards, normally tend to be lacking in the intelligence department.

The obvious reason you may think is that a durable fighter will usually take more punishment throughout their lives. Thus maybe losing a few more brain cells along the way. But I have also considered my friends who don’t take part in combat sports, and there is still a pattern of good durability amongst my cerebrally challenged pals.

This is a bit of a generalisation I know, and I’m sure you will come up with plenty of exceptions to my theory, but I sure there is some connection.

The Klitschkos brothers sort or ruin my theory...but I’m looking at the bigger picture.

Does anyone else think a greater mind, can weaken the chin?

Hahaha this is what forums are for. I encourage more drunken posting from everybody.

And no, I'm reasonably intelligent and have been known to take a hell of a shot.

I have no idea, I'd imagine there's lots of factors. the size of your mandible to absorb the punch would obviously be a big factor, along with tens of others.

But I can tell you for sure there's no way in hell its related to intelligence. Care to propose a mechanism? Only a genuine ****** could conceive of a ******ed notion like that. Congratulations.

I would think more intelligent people try to resist getting punched in the face. I'll have to run some more tests though.

Thats interesting. You could be onto something. I suppose if you are more 'intelligent' you are a sharper, faster mind and are more likely to judge as much as evade incoming fire /read cues or learn patterns from the opponent. I havent heard of an intelligent fighter in history who was famous for standing around to take a beating. A smart craft is a quick craft after all.

I wonder if they have done studies on a boxer's IQ before and after a career of severe brain damage... That might answer your question.

A dumb person will accept that he takes punches, a smart person will improve his defence.

Interesting tit bit,A few years back the sports council were doing tests on reflexus. Tested all the lads, one in particular they were shocked with, they asked Him to do the test again. He tested again, and was found to have the fastest reflexus, ever tested 1/6000 of a second. Funny thing He was the Boxer who was regarded as the slowest in the gym :yep. Always look at the bigger picture. :yep
