Honestly thou... we had this kid in our gym when I used to box who had some high level skills. But, his chin was downright horrible. If you could just land one decent shot he was on jelly legs and ready to go... it was sad watching

That's a real good point. I am one of those who believe, for example, that Roy Jones always had some issues with punch resistance. However, because he was SO super-humanly talented, he was able to avoid having that weakness exposed until he got older, and his reflexes dulled. Similarly, Lennox Lewis was able to overcome his problems with punch resistance by ad******g his style post-McCall, with the help of Emanuel Steward. But these are exceptional cases - where a fighter is able to use other skills or abilities to compensate for poor punch resistance. In most cases, an ordinary fighter will need at least a halfway decent chin to be even remotely competitive at the top levels of the sport.
