and always have been. Terry Norris lost his WBC title because of landing that punch. The reason it has always been extremely illegal is that it lands at the base of the skull. We could not even land that punch in sparring. Why should that punch be legal for Peter and not for other boxers? Don King? Peter should not be allowed to land such a punch in sparring, much less in a real fight on TV, or off TV. Peter is above the rules because of Don King? I suggest someone tell former champion Terry Norris. Take points away from Peter for landing that punch or make it legal for the other boxers. Let them start landing them on Peter and let's see how he likes it.
So if I duck and get hit behind the head my opponent should be DQ'd? Obviously hitting behind the head is illegal but those that peter landed did not look intentional and that is what the ref needs to take into account.
Exactly right. But don't expect Farmpumper to read any of this. He's only here to stir propaganda without listening to reason.
I would hope that refs would give him a shorter leash than other fighters due to his propensity to rabbit punch. No, most of them against Maskaev didn't look intentional (though one or two did), but he sure as hell doesn't do anything to try to stop himself from throwing to the back of the head. Without the rabbit punch, Peter is a very average fighter. See the McCline fight.
if I swing my punch and you duck and get taged on the back of the head its your fault...I was aiming for your chin:yep
Some other fouls in the squared circle. 1. Shoving your opponent using your shoulder (McCline) 2. Armlocking your opponents left or right arm and leaning on him(Waldo) 3. Bending beyond the waistline of your opponent offering your back (Toney) 4. TURNING YOUR BACK TO YOUR OPPONENT (just about all of Sam Peter's opponents) So now anyone can see with an objective eye. Sam Peter is not the only one in there fouling. Put this **** to bed already. If you want Randy Newman taking points for the punches behind the head, he better also be taking points for the constant armlocks and grabbing around Sam's neck.
So the punch that Foreman caught Frazier with was illegal, even though Frazier turned his back or the time when Hearns tried running away from Hagler and got hit in the back of the head? If a fighter turns his back to his oppenent or puts his head down, that's his problem, so I guess if a fighter try's to avoid getting knocked out, he should turn his back and get away with it right? I think the best thing that was said about Peter's supposed rabbit punching came from Manny Steward himself on saturday night, he said that Peter's punches against Wlad were fine, we didnt think they were fouls, Peter has long arms and thats how he punches". I will take Manny's word on it, he's a great trainer and knows what a real foul truly is.
[YT]vlYaX0mtDh8&[/YT] Uppercuts him when the ref said break.atsch He did that In the first fight too hitting him with both fists at the same time.
Because when the ref called for a break Toney hit him with a hook. Sam had his back to the ref so he had no idea how close the ref was. So he threw the uppercut thinking it was fair game. Honestly nobody here is saying Sam Peter is a saint. But the lot of you saying he is the one fouling constantly are nothing but biased assholes. Point blank. Avoiding what his opponents do and blaming everything on Sam is an ******* move.
I wish you typed proper English so we wouldn't have to see connections between your bad typing skills and your obvious national/ethnic bias.
Manny said the punches were fair, maybe if he would of stopped putting his head down, maybe he wouldve of got hit there. Every fighter has something they do in there arsenal that some may consider illegal, Holyfield - head, Lewis - leaning on fighters backs and neck, Tyson - hitting with his elbow/forearm when throwing hooks, Ali - holding the back of the head, I could keep going, but I think you get the point.
