Punches should only be scored with the knuckle portion of the glove, right or wrong?

    It's not officially listed as a rule under Marquess of Queensbury, but is the knuckle portion of the glove supposed to land on an opponent in order for a point to be scored?


    If that's true, a certain someone's gotten away with some serious murder in his career. :hey

    What I'm saying is... isn't ONLY the knuckle portion of the glove supposed to land on an opponent in order to score points?

    I would think that was the case.. it's definitely the case in the amateurs, which is why I wonder why certain people were such highly regarded amateurs.

    Obviously that rules' been largely ignored in regards to his career, otherwsie he would've lost every fight in the latter part of his career, some 15 fights or so when he really stated to use slapping as his primary offense.

    And maybe if he didn't throw them stupid cuffs and paws and instead punched properly he wouldn't have developed hand problems.




    Don't play dumb, pal. Judges score rounds depending on who lands more punches on the other.

    Even Ali got warned for slaps and backhands. He seemed a bit stunned when it would happen, though, because many referees with a champion or hometown boy in the ring either only call something when it's blatantly intentional or blatantly call something when it's unintentional (In other words, they're fair but they're firm :rofl).

    He probably developed hand problems because he used to train by punching metal polls with pillows wrapped around them. Cant imagine thats good for the wrists.

    Even if the referee doesn't say something about a fighter punching improperly, the judges still should not be scoring them as points.

    Actually no. Rounds are scored by which guy does more damage. It is not at all uncommon for the guy that lands less punches to win a round

    So you're saying that in the sport of boxing rounds shouldn't be scored by whoever lands the most punches? :huh
