Punches should only be scored with the knuckle portion of the glove, right or wrong?

Back hand is not allowed. Cuffing is not allowed, Lacing is not allowed, elbow not allowed, forearm not allowed, etc. Thumbing is not allowed, although thumbless gloves have been used for several years now, etc.

 

That is why I am still trying to figure out how Calzaghe beat Hopkins. He was slapping Bernard all night. But, the judges gave him the win. Go figure.

 

It's funny because if you look closely at the Calzaghe Jone's knockdown slow motion replay, Jone's actually knocked him down with his wrist. atsch

Just about every other American commentator hatesss the Olympic scoring system with a Gollum-esque intensity. "How on Earth are we expected to work those video game controller thingies?!" :roll: I can maybe sort-of see those stats popping up on the judges' screens between rounds to give another perspective, but boxing (the Americans, at least; I don't think Germans would mind a CompuBox scoring at all) would have a big riot on its hands if the sport was treated as a... well... sport.

He seems to hit him with his knuckles here. Funny how Calzaghe takes it and seems to be actually throwing a left hook back.

Calzaghe "slapped" Hopkins (a living legend) around like his *****. If a legend let's another man slap him around like a *****, and does nothing about it...Even goes so far to try to lie, and cheat. If I'm a judge that guy is definitely losing the fight!!!!
Apparently people like Calzaghe must be professional pimps. His slaps are hard enough to keep living legends off him....

 

Only Ruiz is a pimp! I don't understand how judges award ineffective aggression either. At the end of Hopkins/Calzaghe, I was certain that the decision would go to B-Hop. CLEAN, EFFECTIVE punching does not equal aimlessly flinging about your hands while barley touching your opponent.

 

Yes that is exactly what I am saying and if you ask any judge with more than 2 rounds of experience he will tell you the same thing. Effectiveness far outweighs quantity
