yes all those exercises work your core, or part of it, but you need every muscle in your midsection to be rock hard, so you have to attack those muscles from every angle. the harder your muscles are, the less energy will be dissipated when the punch makes contact, there is no vibrations through the soft muscle tissue absorbing the energy that should have transferred to the opponents jaw. its the difference between hitting with a hammer that has a rubber handle, and one that is wood. the difference might not be great, but its the difference between a knock down and a knock out.

But do you agree with these two statements coz we might be agreeing without knowing it.

1.There is more than way to crunch the body than just doing a sit-ups
    2. Saying you don’t do sit ups isn’t the same as saying you don’t work out your core.

If you agree with those two statements then that means Mikey statement that he doesn’t do sit ups, doesn’t mean much.

yes, there are more effective exercises for the midsection than sit ups.
no its not the same, but robert and mikey implied that road work was the only physical strength training he did at all, and specifically stated he didnt bother with sit ups. i dont see why he would single out sit ups when the talk was not about specific exercises but physical training in general. it makes no sense to say "i dont do sit ups" when youre doing crunches and leg lifts all day.

I think they probably said that because the stereotypical idea of boxers are they do sit-ups and crunches all day. So maybe he was tryna dispel that, to be fair I’ve heard boxers say they don’t do a lot of things other boxers don’t do.

AJ said he didn’t lift weights which is clearly nonsense, Wilder said he doesn’t do road work, Haye said the same he didn’t no long jogs either, I’m sure there are lot more.

So if they do them things they must do somethings which replace those things like I seen Wilder swimming and on the bike for his cardio, I’ve seen AJ using body weight stuff, he clearly does weights. Haye did a lot HIIT training so sprints, rope climbing etc. So I wouldn’t assume he doesn’t do any core work just coz he said he don’t do sit ups.

    stationary
stationary bike is roadwork, treadmill is roadwork, all boxers do roadwork, regardless of what they say. if i was training aj, i would not let him lift weights, there is no need for weightlifting with a guy like aj.

I wanted to know peoples opinion about it the kinetic chain midsection stretch if its true or not and if its true how does it work if it isn’t true how does it work then the power generation and transfer share your knowledge always curious about other people’s opinions

Ok so you say power can be increased by a stronger core ? How can that Some Guys who are ripped stil have little power ?

Lack of proper technique, timing, accuracy and so on.

Core strength does not equal muscle mass, most Schwarzenegger wannabes, untrained in the ring, can't punch for crap, where skinny guys like SBW Morales or WW Tito deliver KOs. That's cause they transfer body weight properly.

because your core strength is relative to your body weight. if valero had aj's midsection, it would not help him punch harder because that high strength in his core is only needed to move 135lbs around, its overkill. but if he had cp freshmarts midsection, he probably wouldnt punch as hard due to lack of strength in moving 135lbs around. all valero needs to punch at his best is enough core strength to move his body around without any strain or drop in its ability to stabilize the punches as you go through the motions.
its very complicated and has more to do with your bodys ability to work in unison with as little drain on movement due to one muscle on the chain of motion being weaker than the rest, than it is about any particular muscle being unusually strong.

good article, it illustrates what i was trying to explain about punching. you dont need any single muscle to be super strong, you just need every muscle used in the full range of motions to be strong enough to not force an extra load on the other muscles. its all about unison. if your core is not strong enough to allow the other muscles to work unencumbered, then the performance of those other muscles will suffer.

Lots of uneducated nonsense in here. The core is meant to resist rotational movement in throwing a punch.
And yes there needs to be a stretch and a delay between the hips and shoulders.
It’s simply a throwing movement, a sequential movement with delays between segments throughout the kinetic chain to accelerate the lightest part (your fist). This is basic movement stuff.
Golovkin does it well, as does every fighter who can stretch and whip with a delay. You see a similar movement in golfers and baseball pitchers.

What an idiotic post. If your midsection is rotating then what is providing stability?
If Mikey Garcia doesn’t do sit ups in training he’s smarter than I give him credit for, there is zero need or reason to do sit ups. It’s an unnatural movement and has no relevance to anything athletic.

How is it possible for a boxer not to strengthen his core? Everything a boxer does is strengthening it. Keep in mind that core is synonymous with the whole trunk for anyone who is even slightly educated. Only an imbecile thinks the Rectus Abdominis is the ‘core’.
