Punching power: Earnie Shavers or Wladimir Klitschko

Not sure you can say that. Adamek looked like a fearsome puncher at CW but lost a lot of his effectiveness once he moved up. Kuds looks to have more power, but even so I'd wonder how easily he'd be able to dent someone like Ortiz or Parker.

 

Never heard that about Harris before. TBH he never much impressed me in the ring, but I suppose it could be true. Doesn't affect his standing either way.

 

Are you trying to convince us that Wlad does hit harder? You just pointed out that athleticism plays a huge role in punching power. Valuev has the athleticism and explosiveness of a turtle. Guess what happens when you put those traits on a 245 lb frame? You get a devastating puncher.

If wlad threw with wild abandon as much as shavers, you would say wlad

 

Power is one of the most difficult things to comprehend in boxing. Based on my own observations, I don't think there is any correlation to size.

Wilder is the hardest puncher in boxing right now, and punched harder than Klitschko, and while he's tall, you would hardly call him HUGE.

It's really hard to say.

 

Earnie Shavers hits harder than Wlad Klitschko.
Klitschko has one single bigger punch - the right hand. Deontay Wilder has an even bigger single punch than Wlad - his swinging right hand.

But overall punching, it's got to be Earnie.

 

Shavers had a big punch but his wins came against lower level opponents for the most, only stand out for me is Norton in 79 who was finished. Would give him a punchers chance only vs WK. I doubt he'd land a glove on peak 05-16 WK. Klitschko had more power in either hand. More power than anyone until Joshua came along, and he still has it to prove.

 

Kud hits alot harder than adamek. Kud would KO many hws given the chance. But bigger men pose bigger problems. Like throwing big leather back. Kud will be seen as a big big CW puncher when time goes by
