You know how Ivan Drago hit that pad, and it registered that he hit with a force equivolent to 1850 pounds of pressure per square inch?

Sure you do! When the funny Russian dude said "The result's quite obvious: Whatever he hits, he destroys!"

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Anyway, have professional boxers ever tested this type of measurement? If so, does anyone have any examples or stories or quirky facts that might involve something along these lines?

Should've posted this in Classic man, those boys have a couple of stories if you have the right audience. I remember Janitor telling one about Marciano's punching power being investigated by the army or some ****.

Yes, people have been tested on that type of machine. I know Hatton and Maccaranelli have been, but I don't remember the results. They actually use that machine a lot for sumo training. It's one of the few technological/training developments in the past couple of centuries that they've incorporated into their training.

Lol. Chris Byrd isn't in the top 500 of my choices to measure the most powerful punching boxer. Edwin Valero probably packs more pop than Chris Byrd.

I remember on last season of The Contender they measured everyone's punching power, and Paul Smith had the biggest punch.

I also remember reading something about the 2000 Olympic squad having their punching power measured, and P4P Rocky Juarez hit hardest.

I'm surprised they didn't get Paulie Malignaggi instead of Chris for their promotion.

I don't think they are precise, because a guy like AA for example hits with approx. 850 pounds which means either he doesn't punch very hard if your punch is measured 930 or his punch is measured more precise.

Actually that sounds about right, ITV said his hits (lb for lb) is equivalent to being hit by a van at 30mph

If it's PSI, which is pounds per square inch, doesn't that make it depend on the area?

Do people calculate it on the size of the person's hand, or the size of the pad they hit, or what?
