Well, basically i did this because at a very respected boxing site people are starting to talk about a Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto showdown to determine who Mayweather should really fight. So i have a few questions in which i would really appreciate ur thoughts.

1- Should Miguel Cotto fight Paul Williams in order for him to become the clear #1 contender to the Welterweight crown or should Mayweather fight Miguel Cotto next because he is the #1 contender?

2-Who would win between the Punisher and Cotto?

Well thnx for ur cooperation :good

Mayweather SHOULD fight Miguel Cotto because he is the number 1 contender and has CLEARLY accomplished more than Williams, but boxing is a business first and foremost. If Cotto takes on Williams and wins, it would make him even bigger and would make a Mayweather/Cotto matchup bigger as well. If Cotto beat Williams, he would absolutely get all of Mayweather's attention. The same goes for a De La Hoya/Cotto fight.

2-Who would win between the Punisher and Cotto?

Cotto wins by late TKO or UD

1 Cotto is currently has more boxing cred than Williams, he has the better title and is coming of a big win against Mosley.

2 I'm not sure who would win in a match up between Cotto and Williams. I would say that it depends on whether Cotto could get to Williams mid-section or not.

  4. Williams would win at 6-1 or 6-2 he would dwarf the short 5-7 Cotto, and would jab him to death and keep him in check with that long reach, Williams has a damn good chin and is durable and throws a lot of leather, he beat Margarito there's no reason to believe he couldn't beat Cotto, who got the benefit of the doubt against Mosley.

I think Cotto will fight DLH in May,

while Margarito takes on Zab Judah in April.

And then Cotto will fight Mayweather by the end of the year, possibly in November.

this is just because greg leon does not want to see his favourite mayweather fight williams and hopes cotto can do it so mayweather does not have to face up to the trickier style match up.

    1. it would be easy to say floyd should fight cotto and he probably should but just like others have boxing is business and theres probably other reasons why floyd is hesitating to take on cotto... and like someone else has also said if cotto and paul fight it would clearly set who deserves to fight floyd. You can make a strong case for either side of this question.

    2. I am a huge paul williams fan and i dont think he is ready for cotto yet... the main weakness i have seen in him is that he leaves his body pretty open which plays right into cottos style... so im not sure how but i think cotto would pull it out....

id prefer pw to win tho.. i like his personality outside the ring more than any of the other potential welterweight champs

Cotto should fight Williams for the undisputed championship. Floyd should be stripped for retiring so often.

Well, i knew someone would really know where i was coming from, but i dont think thats what he is trying to do, i mean if Paul Williams were to win the fans would demand Mayweather to fight him dont u think?

There can only ever be one champion but he is not the undisputed champion until he has defeated all of the top contenders. As it happens these days the top contenders get belts and paper titles which allows them to pretend they are champions. We won't know who the real welterweight champion is until somebody cleans out the division.

its obvious that Leon's business is being aided financially by certain boxers ....

he shows clear bias for certain fighters .... think outside the box people
