Jones really isn't that good. It's good matchmaking by Hearn because although it seems like a huge leap up in class, it's actually a fight Purdy has a chance in IMO.
i still favour jones, but jones has been badly hurt before against Ouali,gomez,karass,brook... He hits harder than brook imo who had jones hurt on a few occasions. He has at least a punchers chance here
Agree, but you've gotta appreciate the difference in style between Purdy and Brook, Brook tried to box more than maybe Purdy will, who'll be meeting fire with fire... :huh Hard one to read though mate, Purdys gotta good chance!
Would absolutely love it if Purdy won but it would put Brooks win into perspective. If he wins would Hearn put on Purdy v Brook?
Purdy has power, but how do we know his power is just as effective at the Brook/Jones level? We don't because Purdy hasn't fought their yet. Gomez and Karass are levels above Purdy, and Jones wasn't in his prime back then. He's improved a lot since then, his performance against Brook showed us that. Purdy has a punchers chance. but not a very good one IMO, I like him, but I think he's getting overrated, this is the same Purdy who got completely out-boxed by Lynes remember? Jones doesn't box on the back foot, he fights like Purdy, the only difference is he is A LOT better at it than Purdy. Plus more experienced.
This is a good, GOOD fight!. Jones isn't great but he's durable and rugged and has strength and decent enough power and grit to drag you into a war. Purdy will come straight forward and engage him, this could well be a FOTY candidate and if Purdy wins then he's put himself into a fine position for 2013. Can he win it? I don't see why not but he won't be able to just obliterate Jones like he did last time out. Needs to be a little cuter, but Jones isn't the sort of grinder some make him out to be. Lot of his success was down to Brook's frailties..
The same Lee Purdy that was stood on his head in embarrassing fashion by a shot Colin Lynes? Jones isn't a world beater but he's got more than enough to do a job on Purdy.
